What ever became of the oils that smelled good? I know Klotz has a specific smell, but I thought some smelled like cherry and other aromas?
I know, many smell like sh't, not interested in those, just the good smelling 2 stroke oils. And, on top of that, are they any good?
800t, techniplate, and benol for smell

Thanks for the info on the FD rating. I have the same blower and you need to watch for excessive amounts of oil building up in the air intake pipe. This didn't affect performance in any way though. View attachment 40896
You got my curiosity up so I just checked mine and it's not doing that at all. I also run mine at 32:1, but always at full throttle.
What were the circumstances that led up to that.

I just checked and the oil in the XP fuel is Redmax (FD rating 001LTI001). Can you look at your can and see what the FD rating is on the can. I made a post about canned fuel at Walmart and the oil in that fuel was Redmax according to the FD rating number. I bet these two cans are the exact same fuel.

Walmart sells a canned fuel called Outdoor Factory Parts multi ratio premix which comes from the Husqvarna group. The oil mix in it is JASO FD certified (#001LTI001) which when you check the certification page it's Redmax 2 stroke oil. Click on the link and scroll to #309.

Why is this?
What is your rationale?
Its quite simple. ST is a blend of original techniplate 80% with 10% benol. Guys have remarked in this very thread that OT is the best thing since sliced bread. So ask yourself why is ST so nasty? And there are plenty of pics on this thread that show it is. Answer because it contains 10% castor oil. It would then stand to reason that straight castor oil is indeed even worse.
Now beyond the theory of what's going on I have actually ran ST and Benol. They both absolutely suck in a saw and that's just from a deposit standpoint. There are more than a few other downsides to castor that I have mentioned multiple times.
Why in the world do guys think that oils like 800, benol, etc are need in a very low output unstressed engine?

I don't really get it. Some engine builders tell you to run Benol. Some tell you to run Motul. These people build and wrench on engines daily. WTF

I wish the dozer dan 346 i had and ran on 50:1 ultra for a hot ass summer could talk...it would explain why half of what you read is apparently not true..the guy who bought it from me gives it no special treatment either...still rips pretty good with no compression loss...idk.

I've been using benol 32:1 in my saws lately and I like it alot.
A person can slam any product they choose and run their equipment super pig rich to make their point seem valid.

It's a known problem with Redmax/Husky blowers. It gets run wide open most of the time and has had probably 15 gallons of 50:1 fuel through it at the time of the photo. There is no adjustment except idle on my carburetor.

Not long ago these same guys said to run H1R. When I mentioned some of its short comings on the other site guys started to pay attention and found out I was right.
Most of the saw builders know very little about lubricants and really don't want to learn as porting is their gig. Don't know what to say other than that.

50:1 kills two birds with one stone. Well three if you count your saw. EPA and increasing profit by selling more units to replace dead ones.
I can't say that's true. I have been absolutely pummeling a lightly built Stihl 260 all fall on Yam 2R at 50:1. Lots of ripping, lots of bucking over size hard wood, running 3/8 chain, and much knoodling. It hasn't missed a beat. Even when the two dropped thirty degrees and I failed to readjust the carb.
Now, take any saw but especially a strato charged model, run it lean with a stock muffler under conditions like the above and you may run into trouble. You may not.

They actually are adjustable. Download the service manual and it details how.
I run mine mostly at 32:1 on whatever I am running my saws on, but this fall it's been on a steady diet of 50:1 Yam 2r.
