Talked to a logger today ,had 2 461 saws and a 661 in the back of his truck ,all of them were faded to crap from living outside ,he runs 50 to 1 stihl mix with saws ported by Wood's logging ,he says he runs them a year ,trades them in on new ones gets 500 credit on a new saw for the old ones ,told me wont run 40 to 1 because it loses power with the extra oil ,didn't care about the extra oil protection because after a year they were too beat up anyways and wants new ones .

A logger here generally gets a year or two max from a saw and most will never rebuild one, always buy new.

I port saws for a couple big mill/timber companies and you would be amazed at how many new saws I port a year to maintain a 20 or 30 saw company.
I do rebuild some but not often, the extra parts are worth more to them than a runner.

I'm still gonna run boat oil, only because you said not to.
I guess you know about a oil by what is wrote down.
I know about a oil in a saw,not a boat or a motorcycle. I'll bet you anything you want that in a months time I'll run more oil through a saw and have more apart than you will in a couple years, maybe a lifetime.

I can't speculate on a oil because of what I read about it or what I've heard. We've all heard and seen horror stories about benol and I have seen it first hand in motorcycle motors.

I've said this about 3 or 4 times now but here I go again.

I've never had any problems with it in a saw,I never said it was the cleanest, storage oil or Jesus.

You seem like a knowledgeable guy about lots of things but! I've forgot more about a saw than you will ever know, not because I read about it but because I do it day in and day out. What are you doing now?

I'm porting saws to run more
*s-wordty oil in. Lol

I really don't give one damn what oil anybody runs,if I bought the saws I would.

I like to talk about benol and boat oil because it gets a rise out of you,I like the banter.

You can use whatever awesome oil you want in that gallon of gas your saw will burn this year and I'll keep on using mine. Deal?
I couldn't care less what you run.
And apparently you know more than Stihl or Husqvarna, because you tear apart saws, lol.
And I sincerely doubt you run through more two cycle than I do in a year..
Obelservation is useful, but only if you understand what's happening...

Not 2 cycle gas,I said saw gas.
For a intellectual you don't read very well.
A narcissist reads it however he wants it to be.

A ported saw is a joke BMEP wise. Castor is not only not needed, it's not desirable. It's a horrible storage lubricant, even in the short term, it seperate from gas easily in cold weather, it gums engines. You can try to dispute this, but it is what it is.
But Ben the man has a testimony of good results with his paticular oil that may have produced results against odds per say of his oil choice but he hasnt had a problem in that saw for 20yrs? That has to count for credibility regardless of per say results of said oil in the past from other users? Its worked for him with no ill results?

I'll never seize a saw no matter what oil i use,99.9% of them could have been prevented if the operator would have stopped when he should have, regardless of oil.

I have a 460 and a 046 and they have only ever ran on klotz and they sit most of the time.
I'd say my 460 hasn't ran yet this year and thats normal for it since 2008.
I'll pull the cylinder to see the carnage tomorrow.

All though I know what it looks like because I've seen it before after a long sit.

It will be Shiney and oily like always.
I'm very honest and have no problem being wrong but I know for a absolute fact that I'm not wrong.

I'm curious why you have this opinion if a true work port job will increase flow for lower running temps.
As far as BMEP goes as a measure of performance 2T engines, Ben would be correct stating saws are low performance. Ported or not they are low output commercial designs that are a million miles away from other high performance 2T's used in various applications. Members on saw forums don't like like acknowledging this fact.

You said a key word in there, saw forum.
I don't know what anybody else is running the oil there talking about in but I'm running it in a chainsaw.
