How much time on that one?Piston crown.
I was flaking some off to see how hard it was. View attachment 27679
Castor oil is very hydroscopic. Esters as used in two cycle oils have very in degrees of attraction to H2O. There are also breakdown in the presence of water pretty quick. The guys that think esters are the end all of two cycle lubes either are ignorant of this or overlook it.
No it doesnt. I stand by the statement. And fwiw k2 is an ester blend.
Help me out here. You are a very confusing person....so does that make you extra ignorant for recommending k2?

Looked at my original post. It had a typo. It should have said " esters have varrying levels of attraction toward water."I know it's an ester blend....that's why I posted the pic of the jug, you recommended it
Its a mistake to look at things through the good or bad lense. Esters have some good properties and some bad ones. Castors have some good properties and bad ones. Ditto for mineral oils and so on.Ok I am getting confused. I thought ester was the good stuff. I sure am glad I am happy with my oil choices.
A ported saw is a joke BMEP wise. Castor is not only not needed, it's not desirable. It's a horrible storage lubricant, even in the short term, it seperate from gas easily in cold weather, it gums engines. You can try to dispute this, but it is what it is.I use oil in my gas to keep from seizing things up,not to clean or keep clean my combustion chamber or muffler can.
My 064 has more benol run through it in the last 20 years than 90% of people on this forum will ever burn in a lifetime.
I finally put crank bearings in it last year and the crank is still perfect.
If you mix it 32:1 and tune your saw fat your not going to like it and that's why people don't like it.
I run 32:1 now but I switched to 87 octane when I changed ratio
My saws are tuned right everytime they run and there ran hard and there obviously all portd and it burns nicely and protects like nothing else.
I didn't read about my oil on the Internet and make a decision or run it for a couple months and make a decision on it,I've ran it for over half my life in saws so does that qualify me to pass judgement on it?
Klotz said for a ported saw that benol at 32:1 is what they recommend,i was told on here that klotz is wrong. Lol
I certainly ain't disputing *s-word.A ported saw is a joke BMEP wise. Castor is not only not needed, it's not desirable. It's a horrible storage lubricant, even in the short term, it seperate from gas easily in cold weather, it gums engines. You can try to dispute this, but it is what it is.
Just because you been using the improper oil for twenty years without any apparent problems(except bearings..) doesn't mean there aren't better ways to do things.I
I certainly ain't disputing *s-word.
I'm doing just like you and telling what I found after using a oil for a long time.
I guess I've been lucky all these years.
I better get some oil that you have ran a long time and recommend. Wait, ain't that exactly what I'm doing only I'm not continually telling someone there wrong
How could I have got by so long on this junk? I'm gonna go get a lottery ticket
I'm still gonna run boat oil, only because you said not to.Just because you been using the improper oil for twenty years without any apparent problems doesn't mean there aren't better ways to do things.
Heck, last month you were intent on running boat oil..
