I ran a fresh rebuilt and ported saw about half of a tank with lucas at 32:1 and didn't really like how it ran so I yanked it apart to raise the exhaust and the top of the new piston was completely black.

I gave the rest of the quart away.
Never seen anything like that
super air cooled blue bottle man its the shiz.

I didn't care for the lucas when I ran it in the 661. It seemed really dry for 32:1.

wonder if the 100LL has something to do with the storage? Or maybe a reaction between the lucas and 100LL while sitting?
That's what I was thinking too. Lucas is a semi blend so it has dino oil in it. You'd think that would even protect steel for years. Maybe not so with aluminum though

Ok so Lucas and Stihl marked off the list. At least no one has made it to red armor or dolmar synthetic yet so I am safe.

I always have ran the same oil but I thought I'd try it because it is cheap and my oil is supposed to be bad but that *s-word is junk!

If I did I deleted it from my gallery.
It was just a thin black coat.

No pic.

I have ran 3 gallons of blue oil so far.
I ported a 660 the other day and after less than a tank I pulled the cylinder to change timing and the new piston was completely black and dry.
I have never seen anything like it,with the other oil i used it would be just a slight wash pattern.

Should it be completely black that fast?

The Walmart oil your logger buddies were using- was it the blue gallon jugs of tcw3 or the smaller blue pints of aircooled oil?
