All that cert means in my opinion ,is one company has deeper pockets than the other ,they have to pay to have that on their bottle i believe.
They have to pay to have it tested and certified, Yes.
The fact of the matter is its companies with deep pockets that keep up with technology and meet the latest standards. The rest are left behind.
IIRC certification only cost about $7500, which is peanuts.

The original techniplate had a coating of greasy crud on it. Probaly from incomplete combustion due to running rich with the washers in the intake.
Ya i agree but I think he will see a difference when he runs it again. Ive never had kl200 look like that in anything I tore down. Dark carbon and dry

Then you would be making a huge mistake. Flash point is nearly worthless for telling anything of value.
Notice there are no high viscosity oils that actually are Jaso FD certified?
Are u trying to say that any oil without a big box with fd stamped in it isnt any good? Maxima, Klotz, Motul ? None of thoso oils r good oil?

R2 isnt FD certified is it?
2R as sold in the US is not currently certified. At one time the US sold product was certified.
I brought up the FD certified oils not have very high viscosities or high flash points because high viscosity oils aren't conducive to burning cleanly and as such can't meet FD.
On that front I just pulled the pipe on my CR500 which has been running Super Techniplate at 32:1 for the last ten hours. I was pleasently supprised how good everything looked. Jetting is very tight and it's been mostly sand riding though so that helps things.

I never said that. What I said is that FD certified oils aren't high viscosity oils and high viscosity oils can't pass FD.
Motul does make a FD oil btw.

When u say burn clean do u mean free of depoists or actually combusting or both?

The Klotz motors I have torn down always exhibited a very hard, very dark carbon.

I havent seen kl200 burn dirty in anything Ive ran it in. The only 2 oils I have had excessive depoists or buildup in was Klotz Super and h1r
I have never seen any of the Klotz oils I have used burn what I would consider clean over the long term. I Have not used all of them though.
I have seen Super Techniplate prevent seizure in pretty tough conditions. It's for this reason I run it. However I would not consider it or any of the other Klotz products I have used for saw use.

Certifications are ok to a point ,but just means it meets their standards ,I feel the same way about mechanics with the ase patches that means something ,all it means is they paid to take a multiple choice test and the eventually passed it and got a patch for their shirt ,i know many good mechanics i would hire before a lot of the ase ones ,same with oils .
