I was referring to the Klotz oil he has used for years ? Do I think any harm will come from running that Vavoline or RP in saws? Definetely not. I choose not to run tcw3 in my saws as its very thin oil and I care more about protection than i do performance. Plenty of people on here thats ran tcw3 oils in their equipment with 0 issues. Redbull and Treemonkey seem to like the Schaffers tcw3 with no issues?
If the klotz is anything like maxima 927 castor ,i lost some power running it in the saw ,I do not think the saw has enough load to make it work right .

Alota different Klotz oils Brian. The Benol is Castor and the Supertechniplate, (kl100), is 20% castor and I agree needs high load . The original techniplate, kl200, has no Castor and combust just fine. Kl200 is the best oil all around that Ive used in every aspect we all look at

The benol he is using is straight castor. Straight castor has always had inconsistent performance when it's not loaded as its intended.

Honestly you can't really comment as you have been running it maybe two months? Give it a year or two.

Running boat oil in saws long term is without a doubt harmful.
I know a logger that runs supertech tcw3 exclusively. Some saws make it two seasons other puke sooner. All are a dirty mess internally.

I've been running Yamalube 2R since Ben suggested it to me. I stick with it because of the purple color.
You can spend three times as much and not have a better product. Not to entire it's track record is longer than any other oil mentioned in this thread.

I've ran more super technoplate than any other oil.

I never really gave that stuff a chance. I ran a couple of quarts of it, and it left a plastic like deposit on the crown of the piston. Maybe I didn't run it hard enough?

I hated the smell of it though........that sealed the deal.

Ive been running Klotz in dirtbikes along time Ben. Liked it then as well as now and alot can be concluded in a few gallons. I know for a fact kl100 can stick a ring in as little as 1 gallon. Did it take years to conclude that? Definetely not and if I hadnt torn the saw down when I did it woulda eventaully been catastrophic. Oil related failure? Yes or may have been an autotune issue ? Not sure
