I've had this sitting on the shelf in the shop for a long time. I don't plan on ever running it. I figured I'd use it for assembly lube when rebuilding a saw. I never noticed Castrol on the back before. I really don't have much else to say about it other then I used to run it before I had ported saws and none of my stock saws ever blew up due to a oil issue. Oh and I used to always run 50:1 mix with whatever gas was cheap.View attachment 19841View attachment 19842

Castrol made the dino 2 cycle mix for years for Stihl Canada , I'm not sure if the USA was the same of not . They were still making it in 2005 when I left Stihl , not sure if they are now or not but it was a clean burning oil .

It's plenty of oil at 40-50:1. Some of us are just stuck in old habits of the 4oz per gallon.

I hear ya on old habits.

I still shake the gas can when picking it up, Lace the boots left over right, and drive with the thumb on top pf the steering wheel...took me forever to stop pushing the gas pedal twice before turning the key.

Biggest thing that ticks me off with Ultra, is the clogged spark screens on the Brush saws/weed whackers and post hole auger.
Run the things on the ragged edge of adjustment and they still clog like a SOB. :firedevil:

you could run husqvarna or echo oil with better results.

stihl saws

You can always justify another saw.

Driving a '54 International taught me quickly about the thumbs on top of the wheel. Ultra is a decent oil, but there's a lot better choices out there.

Ive seen alot worse than clogged screens with Ultra! Piston bumping squish, exhaust ports 50% closed, clogged screens, etc

If you're seeing skirt wear with the orange bottle oil, what does that say about breaking in saws on that type of oil?

Just thinking that the sand will break the glaze for a new piston. I like to be proactive. ;)
What kind of sand? And what ratio? There's silica sand, beach sand, ice control sand, mason sand...the list is endless. Not to mention how much of each to use.

Oil is boring
