@jmssaws , @Keith Gandy , @mdavlee does that look any better below the ring or is that bad?
It doesn't really look bad. The rings weren't sealing well at some point to be burning a little oil and carbon below it. The way the very top edge is just light brown looks like it's seated good now.

The guy I am working for runs pure gaurd at 50:1. It smells pretty much like crap. Similar to ultra. I just pulled down a old redmax backpack blower and a weedwhopper they both looked dam good. The blower gets pounded all the time the whip is overloaded frequently from too much string out.

I've had this sitting on the shelf in the shop for a long time. I don't plan on ever running it. I figured I'd use it for assembly lube when rebuilding a saw. I never noticed Castrol on the back before. I really don't have much else to say about it other then I used to run it before I had ported saws and none of my stock saws ever blew up due to a oil issue. Oh and I used to always run 50:1 mix with whatever gas was cheap.image.jpegimage.jpeg

I decided to clean the piston up, rering with a caber ring, and hone the cylinder since it was blowin by. Mixed up 93 efree and Stihl orange bottle ultra @32 to1 and ran 2 tanks wot with 16" bar buried 1 cut after another with only stopping to refuel. Wheres the lube and notice the scuffing on front of the piston. Dont tell me u cant VISUALLY see a difference in lube and wear!!!20160422_180958.jpg20160422_181008.jpg20160422_181028.jpg

Damn that sucks. I'd stop running that oil immediately.

Ive seen alota 346s scuffed like that on the exhaust side but dont have a clue as to the oil that was ran. My buddy Ronnie would pass out if I told him I saw wear worse than that running 800t!!:cunaooooo:

Out of my last gallon if fuel,

Kind of thinking about trying the klotz super tech at 40:1 in the 7900.

Really like Benol, however nothing wrong with a little KL200 mixed in there lol

Sent from my non internal combustion device.

OK gang....I just finished reading 201 pages of this epic mountain of mirth.:yikes:

Question for the guys running Klotz Techniplate..in stock or mildly ported saws where heavier ratios aren't needed.
Has anyone run 50:1 for any length of time, or is 40:1 a better option?

The price and stench of Ultra, has me looking for other options, and I refuse to send Baileys another CC# or step foot in Wal-Mart.
I can pick up Klotz at several places cheaper than Ultra..so I'm heading in that direction for the saws, and other OPE around here.

20% Bean oil is a bonus.:D

It's plenty of oil at 40-50:1. Some of us are just stuck in old habits of the 4oz per gallon.
