Friend at work asked for some poplar without the pith….. never heard what that was before.
Anyhow I sliced that log in half and cut the pith right out then cut each side of the log in half yeilding 4 of these 5x5s

he is going to make a baseball bat for a one of our sailors that is transferring.

Logged some Black Walnut a while back. The log buyer didn’t want one of the logs because there was just a hint of bluing on the end from above the fence I cut out of it… Well my brother bought it from the landowner, and milled it today. There was just over 300 bd ft in the log.

This was the log on the landing. It was 36” at the widest point. I’m not sure how he had it clocked on the mill.. As you can see, part of the tree tore away and it fell into 2 halves. There was a large frost crack throughout.

took Masterminds advise and cemented a foundation for the mill. larger logs moved it around to easily
