Ryans is poplar (i think) and dwanes is red oak.

I made some fast cookies in that half rotten section. Other parts of that log made nice firewood.

I cut almost all red oak but i hate the rotton stuff falling off in my house. Lol

It is nasty! I sell, and know better than to load any of that crap. Seems to be only where the bark stays on. I call the barkless "bone wood" so nice to handle

Today being Jan 1 2017 it will be with a little 024 Stihl .There's a couple of wind blown small ash leaners that are driving me nutz looking at them. Short job maybe an hour at best .

Maybe so? That bar came off another saw that had been owned by an older guy. I put it on the oh two six so I could try .325. Dosen't really seem burnt as much as a paint adhesion issue where the rails are induction hardened.

Got a 660 from another member, put it to work doing some noodleing with a 28" bar. Very impressed how the saw keeps pulling, but I'm gonna need another 2 gallon jug. She's a bit thirsty, ha.

I like it a lot! You know I have been sitting on it for several years. I decided YOLO and if I got hit by a bus tomorrow.....Well, you know, it's a saw, not a Piccasso!

Let me see. I think I'll be cutting dead standing chestnut oak today, and tomorrow, etc. for the next year or so. I have at least 2 dozen 12-20" DBH in about a 2 acre stand. They have been dead/dying for 4+ years now. Must be some sort of disease. Regional forester wasn't sure what. Anyways, they will keep me busy for a good long time. MMWS MS461 is earning it's keep quite nicely.

A ported 394, an 028 super, and an 044 with a bow bar. All worked well to drop and cut up a 30" white oak.

So I finished up dropping, skidding and bucking up 8 of the oaks. So yesterday, I went after a small black birch medium sized black cherry. The cherry was about 15" dbh, straight up for 20' then a nice, solid-looking symmetrical crotch. I can't wait to mill it up. Plus I got to use my new bar.
