eh. age is taking the concentration too.
Now I can't remember the name of the "Machinists Cologne" that we all wore home every day. The brown stuff with sulpher.
Metal peanut cans with those metal tube handled flux brushes, sitting on most of the machine benches.
Bout 1/2~3/4 inch deep of the oil in them. Shavings and chips packed into the bottom corner of the can.

I could be half dead and I'd still recognize that smell. It's in my mind right now.
Even halfway got the sensation of being splattered by it hot off of a lathe.
But the name brand just simply won't come to me.

Oh and let's not forget spending days on a radial drill. 2~3 inch drill bit swinging a chip till you flip those feed levers in and out to break the shaving.
Yeah, the brown stuff splattering around.

On a serious note, Stihl’s MS 500i is vastly inferior to Stihl’s close to 80cc offerings in the 40 years before it was around.

Hell, of all the manufacturers since 1985 have produced a better 80cc saw

Like, way worse, in a lot of ways.

And I didn’t think the air filter or AV on an 046 could get that much worse.

Also, Ford>all
