...and here I felt bad that I had one I didn't need! ha-ha Oh well, if anyone else doesn't have a bucket of them and wants it, my offer is still good. I know it's aftermarket, it's a good specimen as far as they go, good casting, holes centered, ports chamfered. Port timing? I don't have an OEM one to compare to. I wouldn't have offered it up if it were total crap. The other cylinder I received with this one I will be trying out, it fits a MS440 project saw I have. I did my best to measure the ports to the Stihl one with the back side of a dial caliper and everything was within a few thousandths or so. I just ordered a close out Meteor piston and rings for it from HL, so it looks like the project is going to move forward now. If it turns out it sucks, I'll try reviving the Stihl cylinder with the treatment from the Mastermind video, as it really isn't that bad, mostly the piston. The reason I'm trying to keep costs down is there is a young man I have in mind for this saw, and I know his money is in short supply, so we do what we can do.

You might just sit it back.......if you're like me, you will need it one day. I just dug thru that pile under the bench and pulled out a 046 jug that had a little transfer. I got a 460 in that was wearing a poor quality BB kit. This jug will make the customer and me both happy.

I am going to have a Husqvarna 288 built as a cant saw very soon.
I have had the majority of the parts for a few months and bought a few of them i needed from Spike60.
I got the message my appointment is fast approaching and I printed off an IPL and realized I am missing a few bits yet.
I have the clutch cover/brake assembly and muffler on the way from my way, way, way far east satellite office:)

I need a coil and wiring I have kill switch and flywheel but thought I could get a coil aftermarket but I was wrong.
I want an unlimited coil if such exists.

I need what looks like some type of buffer/grommet for the top cover.

I need a fuel line if it is something special, I have bulk tygon and Echo fuel line if it is a standard size.
I need a top handle - I assumed I could get one from China but no luck.
I see Bryce has a full wrap for about $80 if anyone has feedback on if it is decent or not.
I also need what looks like a needle or something on the clutch side of the tank handle

finally I need two different grommets for the top rear deck of the cases

I have feelers out with a few guys but need to get my ducks in a row on this, as I have been dragging my feet and it needs to head out to the builder ASAP.
I have cash and parts and spare square cookies, I can even trade risqué pictures of chainsaws in compromising situations if that is your thing :)

Oh and nobody tell Randy I am sending him this please :)

I have a 288Lite I can use to anchor any small watercraft until this one gets back, but I am debating if this earlier no-decomp jug will work or if I need to send a new OEM jug along that has the decomp hole to thread an Eye-Bolt into.
I would hate to have a saw that couldn't be an effective anchor :)

Is there an unlimited and limited or just one for this saw?
Also it has a Tilly carb is that preferred or should I be scouring Ebay for a better option?

I'm pretty sure I have those items, I'll look when I get to the shop tomorrow

The buffer for the top cover is nothing special, just a rubber plug used on several models of Huskies. They average $2.00 at a dealer.
The fuel line depends on if you have an early or a later style tank. The early tank used a molded fuel line (which can be bypassed with a grommet and regular fuel line) and the later tank just used bulk fuel line.
The handle that Bryce has is a good one. I have one here I bought from him that is going on my 288 which will get sent to a builder.
The needle looking thing you need is the two-piece tank vent. I have those, it's a universal fit tank vent from Husqvarna.
The larger of the two rear grommets you need is called a "bellows" and retails for $5. It's a current production piece. The other is just a grommet ($1.00).

The same thing we try to do every day Pinky....I'm trying to take over the world!!!!!
I want a rip-snortin, fire-breathing, piston melting chip cannon that makes children cry and widows weep.
When strong men see me piss rev it near a log they should involuntarily take a knee.
Timber shall be as butter before my blade and the forest shall tremble at my passing.

Several of our builders seem to build a hot running 288. That one that Tree Monkey posted a few months back was a monster.

I'll be looking for parts for you in the morning. Tonight I'm working on 562s.

I also need a couple of 288 parts as well.
the front antivibe and mount, a few screws for the recoil starter, and possibly a brake handle.
