I think I still have 1 still in the cases, also. Aiming to take a look sometime if that would interest you.

E4811685 looks like the serial #. Any way it looks like it has a defined lobe, think u can see it in the pic. The bar stud holes had heli coils, 1 of which is working out. Other then that the cases look very usable for a work saw provided I didn't miss something. All the bearings feel tight and smooth also as far as I can tell rolling it over by hand and up and down play.
Have some other loose 045 parts I don't expect i will need, got a couple power heads I am aiming to restore to working some day so holding on to questionable parts.

Flywheel and air jet from 371K, air conductor 254,257,261,262, one top cover from 261-262. Crank and p/c are 55mm 390. T540 parts, carb and coil are from same saw, crack in rewind upper right corner.

Someone was looking for a 288 pto case. Don't remember who right now so help me out.

The crank is heading to VA cause Tom needs one for a 394 The flywheel side is good but was all welded up on the saw. It is tight but needs more work at the weld ends to be right. I scrapped the build and parted it. The rest is pretty much gone but the cases and a tweaked tank handle missing the operator presence lever.

No hurrrray for this 288.

A guy had me order him a bar and chain combo for his saw. Months later he goes to put it on and it ain’t right, he gave me the wrong model number!!! Is stead of arguing I gave his money back and took the combo, he can order his own from now on. It fits nothing I have. Bar mount is K041, 18”and comes with a semi chisel chain, 72 dl, .325 and .050.It’s an Archer combo. $20 plus shipping or trade for Echo 490, 590 stuff or Makita 6421, 7301, 7900, 9010 stuff.

I haven't had my paws on many Red heads of this series.

They interchange as far as fit and function go. I believe mine has the metal brake handle but I don't think it interferes
with the handlebar on either version.

If you find only the cylinder, the Cross popup piston has worked well a few times for me
