I just went to the landfill as a favor for my neighbor. And I struck gold there! A scared Stihl MS290 Farm Boss was suffering under some junk. I pulled it out and threw it into the truck casually. Got it home. Piston looks good. Started up with a drink down the carb and idled. It shut off as it should with the lever. Gas tank is clean. No bar/chain. Spike is bent but I should be able to fix that. Overall in good shape. Can’t wait to put some fuel in the tank later and see if it will staying idling and oil. I also got a Briggs that turns over.IMG_9922.jpeg

Not the way to operate.

How do u mean? The term “threw” was an exaggeration if that’s what ur taking about.
Casually implies that you were trying to look smooth, doing something that you consciously know isn’t right.

Now I’m not sure what the rules are at your dump, but it could be fine that you took it, or it could be stealing.

Ok. I might ask about that. I didn’t see a scavenging prohibited sign or anything like I have at other dumps.

Update on the 290: bought countyline bar and chain $58 3/8" 20", installed. Saw would idle fine before installing b/c. I never revved it without b/c. Now won't stay idling. Likes to start with choke which is combined with full throttle on this set up. Take off full throttle after 2 seconds and dies and won't throttle back up. I suppose I'll do new fuel lines and filter, then if still issues carb clean/rebuild/replace. Or is it an air leak?

Stopped by Steve's today for some saws. Homelite Super XL AO to add to my collection of that series amongst 7 other saws for parts and repair.

Yesterday I went in for an interview at an equestrian center that’s only 5 minutes away from our house. Just gotta fill out all the paperwork, sounds like there’s a very good chance they’ll hire me.
Currently ironing out the details, but there’s a decent good chance I’ll be trading 2 saws for an Allis Chalmers 195.

New project from eBay, very rare vintage Ryan leaf blower, I already have 3 weed trimmers from this OMC brand.
My Silverado gets new rear brakes next week. Poulan WoodShark from @Stump Shot runs great and turned out to be in great shape, just needed a new primer bulb, air filter, and chain catcher. Also got another red Homelite super xl ao from him for my collection, it’s in good shape, a later version, got a new air filter stud and cover for it, runs but carb needs attention. That blue Homelite XL was a running saw before it hit the orphanage for wayward saws. Has sat for some years though.

Probably gonna install new rear brake rotors/pads on my truck within the next week.
Got a 4 yr old Toro push mower with electric start for free! Just needs carb work.
Gonna be putting this Honda motor in this mini bike frame I think.

I start my job at the equestrian center tomorrow.
Our ex-cop car is getting a new windshield installed right now.
Ryan leaf blower cleaned up and runs with a drink.
Pay attention to the equestrian gals while your working.
Some are hot.
Some are not.
They all like to ride though.

Went to work today. Drove the John Deere Gator UTV lots dragging a pasture. Also did some other misc. chores/jobs there.
We’ve worked on a lot of vehicles, but I must say, my Silverado is the worst case of rusted damn tight bolts we’ve seen.
I’m working on some chainsaw trades and a sale with JT Chainsaw Shop on YouTube, Dean’s Small Engines on YouTube, and Foothills Vintage Saws on ArboristSite.
