SP 81 cylinder (sleeved), I used a PM 850 tank for testing while the Red Kote in the 81 tank cured. The first saw I put together with a sleeve would run 90 seconds the die from lack of compression. When is cooled down compression would come back up to 140 PSI or so. Repeat...

This one seems to work O.K. I ran it for 30 minutes or so and is seemed like the compression kept getting better. I used an 850 muffler since I had the parts available.

I smoked an 805 engine by using a prime of straight gasoline .My mistake from not paying attention .Replaced it with doner from an early model 850 .The original engine because of the year it was made just so happened at the same time hard Rhodesian chrome was in short supply because of political unrest ..To repair it I used a block from a later model 850 cylinder but I had to do some modification .If memory serves that was because of the way the coil fit .Thinking back I think I had to shim the coil outbound so it hit the flywheel dead center of the magnets .At any rate with the complete 850 the saw runs great and cuts very well and basically looks just about like brand new one .However it's a shelf queen to preserve it as I certanly have other saws that run well .As for the engine I ruined the block can be saved, the piston is toast --parts are parts .

Regarding a sleeved engine I've only done one for a 125 Mac .Bored the block out 70 thou and turned the sleeve from grade 50 cast iron which BTW is the same alloy used by Harley Davidson .Honed the sleeve with a Lisle precision hone to a 4-4.5 thou fit. That BTW was not a few hours job ,it took weeks . The saw runs great but again another shelf queen .--
