I think it was K-Mart that sold the 610 with a 16" bar for 169.95 .I've got three of them.My original, one I bought for my son and my deceased fathers .My dad "enhanced " his a tad and I saw it outrun a Stihl 042 . Although they are pretty tough what can kill them is the screen plugging up which will carbonize the exhaust port and chew away at the piston .Bad muffler design it has to make two 90 degree turns .Simple, throw away the screen and wear ear plugs .

Must have been enhanced quite a bit. I’ve never run one but saw a couple used and just watching they look like they’d need some help to come close to an 042 which I’ve run a fair amount. Have to see what it’s like after it’s running and good and sharp. My guess is an 041 will be all it wants for competition but I might be surprised. We will see 042 stomps my 041 pretty good but won’t touch my 041 super in big wood.

I don't think it would outrun my personal 042 but that was many years ago and the Stihl was tuned as it came out of a shop nearly brand new .Those three 610's don't get much use because I have much better saws to use .But that said they don't do bad as firewood saws . Besides that they don't bring much money .

There pretty plentiful over here a lot of farm shops sold them back in the day
Most of the 850’s and 10-10’s are in safe hands of collectors but they do come up for sale once in a while

The 10-10, 2-10, 6-10, 250 super ect are more my thoughts for a collection. If I decide I don’t like this 610 I’m sure I can sell it to someone for a cheap firewood saw.

That’s what I was guessing couldn’t see a c in picture on air cleaner cover. But doesn’t mean it wasn’t in pic or had a different cover.

Not much for macs in north mn. But I screwed up at the garage sale couple summers ago. 8 chainsaws 5$ each I could have had them for. 6 macs a 10-10,700, and some older saws 250 ect. All were ok shape and 3 were supposed to run. Had a stupid moment and walked could have sold for parts if nothing else.

I didn't realize the CP had a bridged exhaust port .I doubt it would make much difference in how it ran .People have to remember these big displacement Macs are not cookie cutters just Clydesdale bull strong old red wood killers .--they do pretty good on big oaks too .:)

I'm just repeating what I was told. I could make that bridge disappear...
We still cut some big red and white oaks here from time to time.

CP's had bridged ports. This saw probably started life as a CP but it has had
a few parts swapped. Has a SP fan housing, Clutch off a right hand start saw
with the the parts cut off. Muffler not looking so good but the saw in general
looks like it will clean up nice.

It has another muffler coming with it. I see what your saying about the clutch
