It is a 1-63...found where it is stamped on the bottom of the block.
No sparky though. Now to troubleshoot the ignition/probably find a coil.

FWIW usually on a points ignition it won't be the coil.It will be something on the low voltage side of the system such as the points or condenser .

I have em a bit of a scrub hoping that would do it. No worky. I'll try scrubbing a little more. I don't think the condensers fail very often...but I may try replacing it. I'll just have to find out what condenser I'll need.

Check the metal the coil is attached to,make certain it's a good ground .Just about any condenser that will fit will work .A magneto is not like battery coil where you have to match the capacitance to the coil .All the condenser does is prevent the points from arcing over

Have another condenser coming...
Made sure all contacts are clean/good ground. Still not getting spark.

To test a condenser check for continuity between the lead and the case. I should have none. You can also just disconnect it for testing. If you have spark, it's bad.

A coil is basically like an auto transformer .The low voltage side and the high voltage side has one winding wire each grounded .You should in theory be able to do a continuity check on each side to ground .

Finger trouble, didn't finish my previous post and can't edit it. Anyhoo, I couldn't resist a 10-10A that looks like it has been hardly used. I put fresh gas in, fiddled with it a bit to get started and now it goes on one pull. I also have a monster 797 that I have yet to work on, it is the only one I have ever seen. It's a heavy beast, I was warned to not try starting without the compression release

I'd certainly like to know why some design engineer thought the starters should be on the right side . I've got a couple 10-10's ,a 6-10 and a super 44 A with the starters on the wrong side as far as I'm concerned

Seems I have been AWOL on OPE, I will try to stop by more often and keep up to day.

I picked up a big load of McCulloch saws when I went west for the PNW GTG in June.



Included in that trip were a near new PM610 in the box, a NIB Mini Mac from madhatte, and a 1-60 from 3000FPS on my way home through Wyoming.

Included in there was a Super 10-10 (not the 10-10S variety). Someone had been in this saw before and not all of the parts were original but it cleaned up nicely and fills one more spot in my quest to have examples of all real McCulloch saws.
