Regarding that bow bar McCulloch Larry Steiner has one .Some place I've got a picture of myself and John Lambert (RIP )making some cuts with it . This saw BTW is not one you use to trim the apple tree in the back yard .

I hjave no idea as to when I'll get to use the 125 again.
That can be a problem finding a large enough tree to warrant using a large displacement saw .I've got 5 saws over 100 cc including two Mac 125's .One of those is the one I over bored and made a cast iron sleeve for and that by now has to be 10-15 years ago .I have not put enough hours on it to even seat the piston rings .At that rate it will out last me .

I went out yesterday to get more of that big 'ol oak tree.I got there around 2:00 & was home with the load before 5:00.The logs are getting progressively bigger as I work towards the main stem.I had to carry the logs out about 40 ft.to load them onto my trailer.Needless to say my butt was gragging towards the end.Now I need to split them.If I remember I'll get a pic of the load before I start splitting.I almost didn't make it out of the lot because the farmer tilled the field & planted it & it was an uphill climb.

I'm pretty sure the desk scene was a CP125, if you look closely at the saw as he is carrying it out it has a round muffler, no guard over the muffler, and what appears to be the lever DSP on the back of the saw...

My curiosity got the best of me because the time line of the story was in the early 60's .Which if my chainsaw time line is correct neither the CP or the Sp 125 were in production and the 797 is a right hand start .The movie however was made in 1971 I think so by that it has to be a CP 125 because the SP is circa 1977 . In reality being Oregon during that time period in real life it would make sense it was some large McCulloch .Good for anything from dropping a Douglas fir to chewing a desk apart .

The 250 that I'm trying to get running needs a fuel filter felt.
Is there something readily available that I should look at.
I'm thinking readily available stuffs like maybe a felt eraser piece trimmed to fit into the rubber socket.
Other ideas?

I can get a dozen erasers that are large enuf to trim pieces to make at least 24, for a similar price as buying/delivery of 1 pre-made filter.

I have a Mac 10-10 that has a similar issue, specialized fuel filter, but I am missing the components for it, I just have the fuel line. It was recommended to me to take a regular fuel filter and connect it to a short piece of fuel line and just insert that fuel line in the Mac fuel line. Might be a temporary fix for you until you find what you need. My Mac D-44 has a felt fuel wick about the size of a 4x6 card, I ended up ordering it from Mark @Hinerman . He may have some of what you need or might be able to help you find suitable sub material. Felt erasers may work, but might be wise to test it with fuel before installing in the saw, you don't necessarily want to go through all the trouble only to have it fall apart and clog everything up.
