Another Pro Mac 55 just came my way.
From the same coworker that found the last one that was seized.
This one is not thankfully.
His wifes uncle had it in the barn.
Pretty nasty, but seems to have good compression. Will know more when I have a little time to tinker.

I have one more waiting...after that I think I will decline any older ones with the MDC carburetors.

Make a note...if you remember to install the welch plug after replacing the high speed check valve you may be able to avoid one round of assembly/disassembly/reassembly.

LOL!
Ive come to the conclusion that those MAY be more annoying to work on than Homelite XL/Super 2s...
One was enough for me

I did one three years ago for my neighbor - it was a sentimental project for him as he'd bought the saw new in the mid-70's from a local dealer.

I referred to some previous posts of Mark's on dealing with the MDC carburetor which were very helpful. I'll never work on another one.

Sounds familiar.
I need to take notes on the many things ive forgotten to do putting those and other off-color "turtle shell saws" back together. I apparently need a LENGTHY checklist, as I always forget SOMETHING...

Hey guys, any tips for an old mac 1-10 that ran last year, had non ethanol mix left in it, and now the primer wont prime anymore? Has the wierd pancake carb on it... i went thru the carb like 5 yrs ago when i aquired the saw, but have very rarely used it (im a stihl guy at heart, and have 4 of those, an ms170,ms280,044 and ms661 so not much need for the old iron to get used) i can rebuild a zama/walbro carb in my sleep but his pancake carb just is wierd to me...LOL

There were at least 5 different versions of the bullfrog carburetors and the primers were different on the different versions. In general there must be two functioning check valves, in many cases these are NLA duckbill valves PN 63401 (I do have a few NOS available), alternative is to drill out the body of the carburetor to accommodate the readily available Homelite 69451 duckbill valve for the inlet check valve.

There were also different gasket/diaphragm sets used on the different versions so you must identify the correct parts for yours if you want to order a replacement.

See if Ray Benson has a copy of the MAC 10 Shop Manual 63084 (Beg for Manuals thread), the only electronic copy I have is way too large to attach here. There is a lot of very helpful information in the manual.

Ed - When you put the fuel/oil tank in place, make sure the connector from the oil pump slips into the hole in the tank.

Other than installing the fuel pump diaphragm and gasket backwards, and getting blue LocTite on the throttle shaft, the project went as smoothly as a Mini Mac can go.

I remove the welch plug and test the high speed check valve on every Mini Mac carburetor.

The Walbro slide hammer (500-501) is handy for removing the brass retainer for the check valve.

New disc in place.

I remembered to install a new welch plug on this one...

Since these always seem to have been setting for a long time and have some corrosion, I use a little toothpaste on the tip of the needle and a piece of small diameter tubing to grip the needle and polish the seat before moving on.

Dream, you're also gonna love the PM55 if you don't have a runner already. The PM55 is my favorite 57cc saw.
I had heard those were pretty nifty Ed.
Only 57 cc ive dealt with is a 1010S.
Think ive got three of those.
I like them over a 1010A for better torque.
1010A is a bit lighter in hand though.
PM55 compared to a PM1010S seems to be a bit like a 7-10A compared to a PM700.
