I took this SP105 with me to the PNW GTG last week, we did not end up cutting with it but I decided it was time for a good clean up and move it in to the display. I have used this one a few time harvesting firewood and it is will definitely cut. This one came to me from Roland (Belgian).

I've got a low hours 105 that had sat in a repair shop in I think Wisconsin for over 30 years with a broken recoil .It had a Mac branded .404 semi c1687569897016.pnghisel chain,24" I don't think ever had a file to it .That one is on Chainsaw Collectors and is a shelf queen .I'll just say it's got plenty of power .

Got a Mac 250 with the primer pump on it. It is hard to start cold but starts one pull the rest of the time. Can anyone tell me how many times I should pump the primer to get it to start cold?

The primers are quite variable in output depending on the condition of the internal parts. I normally started with 5 pumps, pull a couple of times, 5 more pumps, pull, etc.

Of course the problem is once the fuel system is fully primed and moving fuel, the primer can dump a lot of fuel in a hurry. Once it starts running out of the muffler you know you've gone too far...

I did manage to rebuild some primers and found there are two different plunger types, the ones with the aluminum plungers seem to move a lot more fuel than the ones with the bright steel plungers.

I do have the steel one. Thank you. Is there a rebuild kit for the primer pump?

No, but I have the parts needed if you want to tackle the job. You have to drill a hole in the back of the primer to press it apart, then weld it shut or tap & install a short set screw before reassembly. There are You Tube videos and a full description of the process over on Arborist Site.

Funny you should mention a 250.I got my 250 out last week & it'll only run with me pumping the primer. It used to run like that, but then after a few pumps it'd catch & run on it's own.My guess is the carb needs rebuilding.I'm just waiting on either Jeff or Brian to come up with some pump diaphragms to be added to their kits.

One of my 250's ,with a black cover does have a flatty with a primer .Evidently the diaphragm must be stiff because it gave me fits .Why they ever used a flatty when the Tilley HL did a good job already???

after that I go and manually punch out the rest of the holes
the dimples are for locating the punch
rivet and seal it together (deburr of course) and Wala disc for diaphragm assembly's

What is the purpose of the hole circled in red below? I know that the one circled in green is the impulse (pulse) passage for the automatic oiler but I am having trouble cyfering out the purpose of the hole towards the bottom.

Just guessing,

Maybe because of this tube? I think it's on the 380 or the CDN Super 250.

That Mac 650 is just another example of chuming the waters . There's another on flea bay for a gear drive Mac that doesn't run for about 4 grand . I think it's more for humor .
