Is it bouncing just slightly when settling back into idle or is that the video?
Or my twitching finger? Definitely needed fine tuning. I had just gassed it up and given it a quick tune before loading up and heading out to bury it in that tree.

I've had this 3816 laying around for almost 5 yrs.now.I had it running about 3 yrs.ago & went to shut it off & it wouldn't.I pulled it apart & found the switch wire was disconnected from the coil,so I reconnected it & I couldn't get it to run again.I pulled the carb off & rebuilt it & it still wouldn't run.I got another carb from Mark Heimann & put it on today & away it went.I just gotta hunt up a bar & chain for it now.
A far cry from the saw above, but still a Mac (I think).

Usually if it does that little bounce setting down into idle it wants more fuel. Or high metering lever.
Other than that it looks great!

Thanks for the tidbit. If a tweak on the mixture doesn't fix it I'll tweak the metering lever. I've still got a lot to learn but it's a sweet feeling when you get an old saw looking and running like new.

Tickled me when Mark H compaired a 10-10 to a Ford V8 flat head. Likely a Ford 60 .Then later on came the 82's which I compaire to a Lincoln 337 . Not the fastest nor the lightest but rock solid made for the long haul .Nice restoration BTW .

Ed - It's almost sad to say it but the 32/35/38 cc models were all McCulloch, albeit in the last days of the company. Engineered in Tucson, assembled in Hermasillo, parts came from all over but a lot were still being made in the McCulloch factories in AZ. Some of the later models were made after Jenn Feng made the acquisition and some may even have been assembled in Taiwan, I'm not really sure on that.

The real Jenn Feng saws that came along had a vertical cylinder, yet shared a lot of the styling features of the 32/35/38 models.

I'm beginning to catch on now Mark.I see some odd ball models on eBay that I've never heard of like the MS1435,MS1838,etc.Those were basically the same saws as their predecessors that were made by Mac,but Jenn Feng reversed the numbers & added the "MS".I've never had the "pleasure" of owning a Jenn Feng saw..As I understand it they're not a bad saw,but then again I've never had one in my hands.

The 4-30 is not one you would care to take to the woods to cut firewood. They are a very early release my McCulloch and many parts will be hard to find. Nice saw for a vintage show or to put in a display. They are a rotary valve design, not many chainsaws were built with that design.

The 4-30 and 47 were very similar.

Yesterday proved to be "interesting" to say the least.I've been working on a 3200 on & off for the last couple weeks.Yesterday I fueled it up & saw there was fuel leaking out of the saw (no,I didn't just spill it all over). There must be a crack in the tank.No problem,I have a 3216 that has a bad engine,so I'll be swapping parts from one saw to the next.

Then there was the PM6 that was given to me a couple of weeks ago.I ended up pulling the wicking filter out of the tank to be able to access the fuel line. What a lame design IMO.I had to pull the carb & coil assembly & rebuild the MDC carb (I absolutely hate those MDC carbs). Now I gotta pull the FW in order to have enough room to work on getting the throttle linkage hooked back on the carb.
I bought a Walbro OEM K1-MDC rebuild kit on feebay & went to use it yesterday & found that I got a half kit.I got both welch plugs, the inlet needle, the metering diaphragm,& the fuel pump gasket. It was missing the fuel pump diaphragm & the metering gasket.Needless to say I contacted the seller.Fortunately I had a D1-MDC kit on hand,so I was able to put the 2 kits together to do the rebuild.

21 amps? Seems like an awful lot for the small battery pack, or am I off on the decimal point?
