Some of the newer rebuild kits have some items that are of a mylar type of material .It's my assumption these are more robust with dealing with the ethanol laced gasoline we have .I suppose you could seek out non ethanol fuel but for me it's just as easy to rebuild the carbs every so often .It's just something we have to deal with .

Last week I rebuilt one of the carbs on those two Partner p-100's I've been working .The kit I used on that Tilley HS had two or three different pump diaphragms .I used the soft black one because past practice at least for me is that one seals the best although in time they do fail . So I might get 4-5 years out of it but it only takes about 10-15 minutes to rekit one .

Hi, first post on ope forum, I'm needing the forum members help with identifying the model of this saw so I can fix it... I found this down at the bottom of the earth, in New Zealand :) saved it from getting scrapped. Would like to get some funny looks onsite using it as a metal abrasive saw.

I know it's a concrete saw in the chainsaw section but it did come with a bar and chain, I took the muffler off to check the piston and it's badly scored so a new piston and possible cylinder replacement is needed. Likely other old parts will need to be replaced but I need to know what model it is to hunt for parts, my guess 600 or 700 series??

Definitely a 10 series saw.

Depending on the filtration (or lack thereof), there could have been excessive dust ingestion along the way which could also mean bottom end issues.

I'd guess a 70cc version. I don't have one handy to reference that cylinder number. Measure the bore if it doesn't have a tag in the airbox.

I looked in my big black dealers book that weighs 10 pounds but it doesn't cover anything that looks like that .I'd guess it to also be a 70 cc version .As it turns out a lot of 700 series engines found lots of usage on other devices .Mark would likely be the one to know what it is .

There you go once again on the above .Mac at one time was just about like B and H for readily adaptable power for just about anything ..Between the 250 and the 70 cc versions it's hard to say hard to say how many used those engines .

Funny part about this and McCulloch is my book shows mini mac concrete saws .I can't imagine a little tiny mini having enough grunt to cut concrete .
I have a pair of Makita (Dolmar ) 70 odd cc crete saws I got from Gary (Guido ) a few years ago which for concrete is the smallest I'd ever think possible with enough power ..Concrete after all is just that, concrete .It takes some power .On the saws, one runs good one needs a rebuild,I expected that ,no complaints ,cheap on my part .If all my purchases ran perfectly I would not have the challenge to make them do so .They always do .I truly love the challenge .I always win .

Thanks for the info guys, 7-10 looks like the right power head. Will dismantle it more to measure the bore diameter to confirm.

The cylinder shaped air filter in the cap cover part was full of concrete dust, the felt filter above carb was dirty but mostly just oily inside the airbox around the carb... ain't the best operating conditions for the engine cutting concrete.

Not much compression when I pull on the starter so will start looking for a cylinder and piston kit for it, new fuel line and carb kit.

A bit envious of the cheap project saws and parts you guy's in the states have access to, I can't even import a MAC 15 off ebay cause it hasn't got a chain brake (stupid NZ government consumer law) and the 346xp parts saw I purchased off ebay got seized and destroyed by UK customs for being a "prohibited dangerous item" when the package was processed to leave England.

Do find the odd mac 10-10, mini mac and 600 650 700 750's here tho, hunting a Pro Mac 850 but chances are slim to find a runner.

From what I gather England is a nanny state .Evidently they have laws prohibiting everything .I don't know how NZ is but in the past I've shipped a number of stuff to Mc Bob in Oz and never had a problem .Always listed them as a gift .From Ohio to the west coast or Florida the US mail takes 3 days .Oz by air mail is 4 days .To Ontario Canada ,200 miles away it might take two weeks ,Canadian customs red tape .

Wouldn't the mac15 be considered an antique? Are there different rules for collecting antique items?
There are plenty of 700 replacement pistons but the machinery of the wrist pin is bad so you have to use your old one.

Hi guys, it's been a little while.you guys probably thought I fell off the face of the earth. I just wanted to come on and share today's Mac score.
Got a 7-10, 3-10E, 1-40, 1-51, 1-52, and a 250.
The 3-10 fires on prime, 7-10 ran but had air leaks. I havent messed with any of the big saws but all pull over with compression.
Already tore down the 7-10. Everything looks good, all the intake screws backed off and blew the gaskets out. Will install new crank seals and replace gaskets as needed and should have a runner.
I do need the lower handle brace and recoil screws if someone can help.
I am also going to be looking for some parts for the 3-10E namely a battery box. I would like to add a working electric start saw to the collection. I think I'm going to try to get the bullfrog working, or should I just scrap it and do an SDC like I did last time?

@Simpsonsawshop would love to stumble into a 1-51 and that 7-10. Nice score you have there.

I'm actually most excited about the 3-10E!!! I've been wanting to add an electric start model to my collection, now just to scare up the needed parts for it.

That is definitely a nice score also. I would have liked to have been able to afford the one @Steve put up for sale a year or so ago.

Yes, that one was nice. I put an SDC and auto oiling into that saw. Sold it to a good home with @LOMartin
