I wanted to post up some differences in some common cranks out of the Super Series engines.

These are all 1.635" stroke cranks. Top to bottom is:
63440 (McCulloch 550/Super 550 - narrow crank throws, usually paired with a thick-ring piston in a medium-revving machine)
91085A (Mc-92/93 Kart engine, among others - medium throws, usually paired with a thin-ring piston for a medium to high-revving machines)
58128 (Early 895, 1-85, 1-86 among others - large, thick throws, paired with both thin and thick-ring pistons for low to medium revving machines,
also used in the early Mc-20/30/45 kart engines for a time).

We this will seem rather dull by comparison but I have been getting the 600 Series saws cleaned up in preparation for putting them on display in the museum. I already have the 3420 and 3720 Silver Eagle and the brown Timber Bear out, these will follow soon.

This part of Ohio is as flat as Kansas .Around here you might get clear land of 300 acres ,Farther north it could be an entire mile section of 640 acres .That being said a 25- 30 acre woods is not out of the ordinary and still some rather large oaks .However you generally don't see anything larger than an 066 Stihl sized saw and most of them are owned by a tree service .Fact being I own more large size saws than any tree service in this area .As far as the oaks on just my 2.5 acres of woods out of nearly 6 I own I have around 12-15, 3 feet or larger in diameter and right at 100 feet tall .I've never really counted them .I've had to drop a few of them including that stump in my avatar because they became hazards .It looks like another will need to come down .That one I need a bucket truck for because if I just drop it it will do some damage .

I finished up a couple more today, first up is the Montgomery Wards branded TMY 24086B. This one was really rough and dirty with all of the brake mechanisms missing...I found another complete clutch cover on a parts saw in the attic of the new building.

And this 610, it had 180 + PSI compression but it did not pass pressure/vacuum so while I had it apart to replace the seals I put a set of rings in it. This one will be up for sale.

I have one more 610 to clean up and then I will be done with the 600 Series. As near as I can determine, I have all of the 600 Series saws to display except for the mysterious 645.

Boy that 610 looks New! I haven't tried any of that series out yet, they get ALOT of bad press in my part of the state , I know they were on state contract for awhile because the old park Managers really talk sh&*t about them, but I take everything with a grain of salt from people who hit stumps with their mowers and straight gas mix equipment.
I'll keep my eyes open for a 645.

They are just heavy. But they have kept many homes warm in the winter and a lot of them still do.

I'm not certain if you can actually wear out a PM 610 .These things will run with engine damage longer than any saw I've ever seen .They cut just about as fast as any normal 60 cc saw but they are heavy for the displacement class .Weak link is the oiler .
Because it's an impulse pump if the diaphragm gets to leaking they suck bar oil into the crankcase which eventually will carbon up the exhaust post and chew away on the piston .Even that won't kill them .
When they came out first they sold for a little over 200 bucks .Eventually K-Mart sold a less geared up model for $169.96 with a 16" bar and no tools, like a file etc .The saw just got a bad rap .simple as that .
I have three ,mine I used for over 8-9 years when I sold firewood. One I bought for my son that looks nearly new and my fathers .The latter dad did a little super tuning and I never could out run it .I also never delved into what he did he did to it and probably never will .Pops took that one with him to the grave .

I realized while looking through the 600 Series IPL's that I do not have a Super 610 yet either. I am not sure what distinguishes the Super from the run of the mill 610 other than the serial number prefix.

By the way, the last 610 is complete...

Ok guys, I've posted about this before. I am in search of an 82cc Mac. A have put aside a decent amount of money to purchase one. I also have a Homelite superXL925 that is a good runner that I would trade or partial trade. I dont mind a project as long as it's mostly complete and salvageable. I like then a bit ugly anyway lol.
If someone has something they wouldnt mind parting with please PM me and we can talk about it.

I actually have an SP81 on the way from a member on another site. It's coming all the way from Hawaii!!! It has some disclosed issues but it runs and cuts and the price was way more than fair. I am super stoked and cant wait!!

Nice score Kevin. A light weight compared to the 800 series and one of the most powerful.
I have an 80 but with a divided transfer cylinder so I'm not sure it is. Stout saw. My fuel tank has a leak at the seam but I have some Red Kote so I'll fix that when it's warmer.

They are like hen's here as well. I've bought every 700 and 7-10 I've seen for sale here over the years and have two of each.

I did see an 850 for sale once but $350 is above my decency purchase point.

Even the 10-10's are drying up.

I hope your 81 is all you think it should be.

Sorry we couldn't meet up this year.

I am very bummed that none of the local GTGs are happening this year. I have managed to aquire a PM700, a 5-10, and a 6-10 to cover the 70cc saws, a 2-10DSP to add to my 2 10-10s in the 54cc class, a 1-50, a 1-52, and a 1-70 to cover the large frame saws and now this SP81 for the 82CC class. I've been busy this year lol.

I have been working with a local shop getting some full wrap handle bars for the 10 Series saws...still a work in progress. I also took in a decent example of an SP125 full wrap bar (narrow, non-brake version) and they came up with a perfect match on the first try.

If anyone out there is interested send me a PM and I will see what kind of quantity discounts are available. Note that these will be steel tubing rather than the original aluminum.

Very nice Mark - Hopefully that can save some guy from paying big bucks for Ebay "new old stock."
