Thats dumb if you ask me. What the hell is so 2751.99 special about an sp125?
They are legendary? The crazy thing is no compression test, piston pic, or video of it cutting! What if the boot is bad or it’s scored? I can’t imagine that many people wanted it that bad!

I think the 125 is probably the best of all big saws and yes, legendary, prolly my favorite. That said, that one sold for 2 & 1/2 times what it should be worth. And yea, no piston picture makes me wonder if the seller didn't have a buddy bidding it up.

Even with a few friends in the mix, the eBay fees would be outrageous if it wasn’t a real sale?

They've got or used to have ways to manipulate the sale .Call the sale off at the last minute ,non paying buyer etc .
There was a clown on another forum who put either an 084 or 880 Stihl for sale just to see what it would bring then called off the sale at the last minute .I told him I thought that just sucked .

There are a hand full of legendary saws not just the sp125's, You have the Mac 797,
Dolmar 166, Homelite 2100's and 3100's, Johny 111's, etc. Why this 125 went way
beyond it's value is beyond be. And the 125's are by far the easiest muscle saw to find.
Back in the day there were Mac dealers almost on every street corner in the PNW.
There were a few bidders in the mix which leads me to think it was a legal auction
with no shill bidders. Time will tell if we see it back up on ebay in a week or so.

I agree. But its not like it has some magical tie to paul buyan with certificate of authenticity or anything. Just can't imagine letting that kind of money go for a 125. Cant even believe what the public prices of the KMS4 or Solo Twins go for. And they arent nearly as common as a 125. Dont get me wrong, i really want a 797 but i'm cheap!

I am currently working with one of the Engineers at work to come up with a 3D printable part to replace the air box cover on the 300 Series saws. I need several myself.

I have gone through all of the 300 Series saws I have on hand, I currently have a PM310, PM320 with Auto Sharp, PM340 (perhaps the ugliest Mac ever), PM365, and the Mac Cat. The 310 is out with the Engineer designing the cover.

There are quite a few other models of the 300 Series but this is a pretty good representation of the line up. I also have a Titan 7 which was the last model in the line.

Newby here, just signed up. Great forum guys, I am impressed with the knowledge here.

Back to the expensive 125's, sure I would like to have one. The reason they are bring big $$ is you gents bought the good ones years ago!!! Now if one shows up, there is a line of fellows with money wanting to buy one. I ain't rich, so I will have to wait for one to fall off a turnip truck. Not likely!

Meanwhile I will settle for my old 795's, 250, and 1-41.

Yep this is big saw country. More so back when I moved here in 1975. Not as big timber as redwood country, but I have seen spruce logs too big to fit the bunks on a logging truck and were hauled on a low boy trailer with a wide load permit. Years back I was a serious Roosevelt Elk hunter and prowled the old growth country out here on Washington's Olympic Peninsula. Still lots of big timber here but a lot of it is locked up in Spotted Owl territory.

Speaking of big saws, last Friday I viewed a collection of old big saws, all for sale. Included two each two man McCullochs, complete, and with compression! Several big Mercury two man saws, 7 each of the small Titan bantams, and pallets of other saws and many spare parts. All for sale. I was after a 795 and a 895 that the guy had but just as my luck goes they had been sold before I heard about the collection. Only 4 miles from my house!! I had $1000 in my jeans and was ready to buy.
