Looks like you have an invasion of buttercups. Last few years they have been going crazy in the spring. Not sure what it might cost to have them sprayed but I am thinking pretty hard about it. I should have taken a picture of the dog running around. Her legs and nose were yellow with all the pollen.

Yeah they come here pretty hard in specific fields. I mow the pasture field. The field next to them where I’m at always has them. I spray the hell out of them but they always come back. I just kinda deal with them

Knocked out 130 acres of beans last night with my brothers 40’ Deere air seeder/drill, put in the last 54 acres of corn earlier today, then switched the Kinze over to beans. Chase wanted to start planting beans, that was a big no go.

I couldn’t even get to 5mph & in several spots had to lift the planter just a touch to even pull it. The stalks & rye aren’t letting much air in & the cool overcast days aren’t helping with the drying. Supposed to rain for the next couple days.

It’s a 856 with just two remotes. The 3rd set with the hoses are unhooked…. They never got removed.
I got it now. I have an 856 I thought it was but the hoses tripped me up. Good machine. I’ve gotta work on my hydraulics. Won’t stear currently. It will if you drive it down the driveway two three times.

I had the same problems finishing corn. I had good sun so I pulled a disk across it twice. Not really tilling anything just scraping the top inch or so around. It worked to get me going. My thought was to leave the residue on top and plant the corn below where I disturbed the top. I’ve done it in the past. I’ll snap a picture of it tomorrow. We had 2” last night so I’ve got a little free time

The corn was planted into disked ground that had rye about 18” tall, there was plenty of moisture but it planted pretty well. I am pretty concerned about wire worms but Chase doesn’t seem to concerned about it.

I’ve had them get into my corn on corn with wheat cover crop. They can be bad. I lost maybe an acre total in 3-4 circles where they took over that area.

I’ve planted my own back into corn on corn with a wheat cover crop. I broke them up last year pretty good working things down super early like say March. Then worked it again ahead of the planter.

from what little I know there really isn’t much you can do with them once you have them. They seem to like light land pretty well in my experience

I have more trouble with them no till. Seems like working the ground up helps get rid of them a little. They like grass roots so I think the corn after corn for 8-10 years with wheat barley cover is kinda what drew them in.

I do realize there’s plant of better choices for cover crop I could make for that specific farm but I usually save my own wheat or barley seed so I can plant some for cow bales. Just kinda works out that I have the extra so I put it there to try to build some mulch up on the light ground

I think if you’re reasonably careful you don’t have too much trouble with them

My folks neighbor lost about 70 acres of corn to wire worms a couple years ago. He planted into some standing rye, then sprayed it. The rye was about 18” if I remember correctly.
