Wow this can be a big list.
I like the throttle response of my newer saws. Fuel economy, Air filters, easy starting, top cover easy removal(snaps, single srew) side chain tensioner, oiler disengage at idle, side filling, double post chain break, single switch control, inboard clutch, and last but not least the AV so much nicer.
You all realized I just described my favorite saw.

now if the saw makers would include a spot to keep the coffee warm by using the cylinder heat. imagine a saw with a built in thermos now i would like that.

I've only dealt with this on cheap homeowner stuff so I'd like to see how an upgraded version would feel.

Did anyone mention the turbo style air injection huskys use? blows debris out of area where air filter is drawing air... love the simplicity of that on a 262 -- the air injection tube. Perfect saw would be a 262 with side chain tensioner!

I have to say, modern plastics and how far they have come have done saws a world of good. It's fairly rugged and makes saws much lighter size for size compared to their old school counterparts.

Looking at ATV plastics as an example, the OEM plastics of the 80s was much more brittle and prone to breaking and cracking. Nowadays, it will almost completely fold over on itself and return to its original shape without so much as the white mark from the where the bend occurred. Seen it with own eyes with a set of Maier plastics on my 250r when it came to rest on its back after an unplanned cartwheel.
