The electronic carbs is the future for the manufactors, just rememeber how much information Husky/Stihl get through the data record.

They started with their pro saws, pros give valued feedback. When their system is tested out a few more years I belive the semi pro saws will be the next, later the low grade saws will get the same electronic system.

I'm not sure EPA mather much, the majority of citiziens has a different opinion then us living on the country side.
We need a tool to get the job done they want zero polution.
In a few years in Oslo oil stoves are forbidden, later wood stove will be forbidden, all heathing up the house will be by electricity.

Heat pumps are making huge inroads around this area for home heating, prices of the units are coming down on the equipment and the cost to run them is about par with wood heat.

Personally I believe that electronic carbs is just a stop gap until true EFI is further developed, like it was with automobiles. Husqvarna has already brought AutoTune into the mid range market with the 465 Rancher. But in all sincerity I think that the days of gas powered OPE are numbered. All of the major manufacturers have made a big push in the last two years towards battery powered, and in reality for the average homeowner it makes sense. Less noise, no fumes, no fuel to go bad, no carburetor to get gummed up, plug the battery in, hit the trigger, and go to work. The quality of the new battery equipment is on par with the higher end of the product line, wave of the future.

If you look at the rc car world battery powered is the way to go. Unfortunately for chainsaws and wood stoves not so much. Again they can come and try to take em if they want.

A 400 big cam is a great motor no doubt but I'd have to say a old 425hp 3406 will outlast and out pull it.

I use to run heavy equipment and move myself so I've pulled some very heavy loads with both,I prefer the sound of the old big cam though.

Freind of mine has a kw log truck with a 600 Cummins and a super 10,it's silly strong but get it in a bind a it will put parts on the ground.

woodstoves & chimneys haven't been allowed in new const 25+yr here.

cat 425 will drag a 400bc all over the place, outlast it? definite maybe...
how old is the 600? the ol kt will put period drivetrains [14613 trans, 44 rears] on the ground.
the new ones [46 rears, 18918 trans], not so much...
lack of experience "in a bind" also puts parts on the ground.

I'v got a couple of 3406B's and i would pick them any day. But...
My 500 Mack will out pull any 3406B that i have run, stopping by motor now the 3406 will win by a couple of hills.
You may as well hold your hat out the window when you use the Mack engine brake. At least the ones in the 80's.

in the early 80s & before, mack power rating was "on the ground". "dynatard" left lots to be desired. good jakes get almost as much boost as peak torque.

In the late 90's I'm guessing
It's main problem is it was a road tractor that he stretched and put a knuckle boom on,it's to high geared to crawl around the woods with 4k' on it.
Ground gets pumpy and you'll eventually blow the pd off or twist the short shaft out.
It has no forgiveness and even at a idle generally it won't stall,it either moves, spins or explodes something.

It's one of them when you take off loaded you keep shifting, up hill or down, doesn't make it no difference.

With the electronics/computers/ programs/ dealer portals needed ...(Manufacturer to /dealer supported) ...now and for the future I can see the time coming fast that a hole group of saws..trimmers..blowers..Etc will no longer be able to be maintained ..FULLY.. by a non Husq ,Stihl.......ect Dealer.
This can happened real fast ! You want to see the reality of the situation ..NOW.. then check out the latest vid by afleetcommand and spike 60 on Auto tune to see where Husqvarna are at the moment.
Im not sure owners will be interested on bringing kit to a shop for work ...ect ...and then taking it to a dealer for the electronic work...I suspect most of the work will be done by the manufacturers tech supported dealer network.
I wonder if that will leave a shrinking market by natural wastage of OPE equipment for those who are not a dealer ?

I use to hear people complain about not being able to work on there car anymore but it's been a long time since I have.

If a saw maker makes there saws where only a tech can work on it then how many millions of dollars in carry out parts sales will they loose?
How many millions in parts will they loose if small business owners like me can't work on them?

Shine it up and put as many wires as you want on it but it's still going to seize and get ran over, don't need a computer to fix that.

It looks as though you will need a Dealer portal to be ..sure.. of the reason why it seized and set up the carb so as not to have a malfunction still with the Machine . Just like cars now ...you cant be sure of a fix with out diagnostics i believe .

I doubt that will happen in are lifetimes
Cost billions to do and they'll loose as much by doing it.

Think of how many billions of dollars and jobs lost without aftermarket parts,it's just not possible.

I and many others work on mtronic saws everyday and don't have diagnostics for them.
Crank seal leaking is still a crank seal leaking regardless if a computer tells me or not.
