I had a few folks send me other directions. The promise of great performance at a lower cost was too much to pass up, or so it seemed.

Check out my other thread in here to find the answer to your question:

I used to just tell guys to look more into the model if all out performance is wht your after...some guys are better than others...lots of good guys on these forums with certain saws...people told me jason was the shizzz with 066/660s so i gave it a whirl..bad idea.

Ported saws i didnt like :

Randys 026..didnt care for it.
Brads hybrid..didnt have enough guts IMO.

but that doesnt take away from those guys in any way..they both build killers with some models.

And that's where problems between people arise. Did you ever contact me to say "Dude, I don't really like this 026 here"?

You have to know that I would have done anything, and everything to make it into a saw you did like.

As builders we need real world feedback on our work. Too many people will keep the negative stuff to themselves. That really don't help us build better saws.

So.....thanks for the feedback. What would have made the 026 better?

Its powder mikes..not mine...slow and torquey..not enough speed for MY taste.

But dans 044 you ported is a badass.

Guys,

This post ain't meant to put another nail in the coffin. I think it's closed already here.

If you've had a saw built by JMS, you should pull the cylinder and have the machine work inspected and trued up if needed.

Even if the saw runs fine, I'd recommend it.

We finally got to checking the o46 jug on the OP's saw.

It was out .008 side to side. This was done with his lathe.

I can't even imagine what tolerances he got using a belt sander.

Sorry guys. Hopefully a few guys here will step up to help you out.

Al
I see others have offered also, but I can pitch in here too. If anyone wants a JMS cylinder base trued on a lathe, feel free to pm me.

I feel cheated that everyone else got a cheap price from strapon..i paid stumpy/brad/dan/terry and i forget who else the same price.

Well I wasn't going to share what I paid for my JMS 064/056 magll, but here it is. I sent him 2 complete 064's plus a 660 cylinder, plus 2 more 064 cylinder's. I received one 064 back. I also sent new OEM bearings, OEM gaskets and seals, 056 magll p/c and I forgot what else. I also paid him another $400 and that's not including the extra parts like another piston, carbs off of eBay and parts I bought from Dave Smith for this build. There was alot of R&D for the build and of anyone paid attention to the build thread on here they would we that.
