I tagged you both so the other Kevin could see that I'm not trying to take any credit away from him. He would help others out in an instant to make things right. But the reason jms hired him to turn down the Husky jugs is because Jason didn't have a lathe, and one is needed for any cylinder with an extension, like a 394. It's obvious that Jason was belt sanding any jug without this extension

I've known you for a while Kev, I'd never think for a second that were trying to get credit for something like that. You Sir, are as stand up as they get.

I'm thinking that I did a few more for him too, but I don't have any pictures of them. I'm really just wanting any guys that may have had their 394's done around that time to know that their cylinders were done the right way.

You are 100% correct, I turned them because he didn't have a lathe.

He was posting pics of "his" lathe on Firewood Hoarders a few days ago.

He sent me a single blurry picture of "my" cylinder on "his" lathe during the build process. I saw a picture someone else posted of "their" cylinder on "his" lathe, which looked eerily similar. I wonder if he has a few stock pics which get sent out...

Here is your old squish band after 0.005 was cut.
Notice the offset ?
Notice on the right, it was sanded crooked .....

one of the problems of redoing his work is you don't know what was taken off the base to begin with. by the time you get the squish fixed, where is comp going to be?

While in most cases, this is a problem, this cylinder just had the ridge sanded, the rest of the squish was untouched.

The question of how much was cut off the base remains though.

This cylinder came with basically a stock squish, so I'm pretty sure that the 0.009 off the base from me, and 0.010 outta the squish will still let this cylinder be a runner. Only one way to tell for sure, and Doc will decide what happens to it next.

I'm going to start watching Craigslist and the like. It occurred to me this morning that all of the JMS heeby jeebies are removed from my saw now...except the bar.

I paid $50 to him for a 25" Stihl ES bar and a barely-anything-left-in-it chain, but the sprocket tip on the bar is tight as hell and the guide rails are a bit rough. May as well chock that one up to experience as well. Gonna watch for something light and pretty!

Jeff, I did not know, but ditto what Randy said!

My Step Son, the neighbor on the Right, and the one on the Left are all cops. My Step Son is NYPD in the 44th (Yankee Stadium), likely the busiest precinct in the City. It is hard to imagine what goes on there on a regular basis.

Their stories are funny, and can scare you. Nothing worse than responding to a domestic! My neighbor responds to a domestic, and sees a guy beating the life out of a woman. He grabs the guy, pulls him off, and throws him down in another corner. The woman grabs a baseball bat and hits my neighbor over the back of the head with it!!! You can't make this stuff up!

Since we are on funny cop stories ...
A good buddy of mine is an NYPD detective downtown. So we get to talking one day about service weapons and if they are "issued" or selected. He says they "reimburse" so you chose. I ask him why don't you use a SW MP. 40 (like mine) it's the sweetest shooting handgun ever (my oppinion) . He says he wears the Glock because it's comfortable when He rolls around with perps. It was interesting to me to hear a gun choice was because it was more comfortable then useful. Plus he says he "rolls" many more times then "uses" his service weapon.

Yea, and he has a choice of weapon, but not caliber! They must stick with the inadequate 9mm.
I like my Glock 23 in 40 S&W. Won't say it is the best shooting, but it is low maint and light weight for power/capacity, makes it easier to tote around. Will have to try a SW some time.

Many departments are going back to 9MM. Supposedly better ballistics ans stopping power. S&W .40 may not gave been all it was built up to be. [emoji850]
All based on FBI and Military SF testing.
