You tear this one apart deets!
Jim, I checked to make sure the jug is round. It looks to be perfectly round, measured with calipers.I would assume if that were the case it would have the same wear on the exhaust side. It just came to mind at the time so I rambled about it.
You can use a set of internal or regular calipers to check.
Shawn noticed a texture to it, so it's looking like it'll need a little honing with fine grit.
there's his famous crimp method....ugh. PainfulWith that said, mufflers really aren't his thing. This was brand new, never touched when I sent it out.

Yup. I've done a bunch of these crimped Dolmar mufflers by now, and it really isn't that hard to do. The inside on these 5105 mufflers is very simple to do. Grind down the spot welds, and remove the whole cat and plate that holds it. This one has just been cut off with a cut-off wheel, with lots of loose boogers left, just waiting to let go and wreak havoc.there's his famous crimp method....ugh. Painful
Looks like *s-word to meI may just be the pics, but I don't like the way that cylinder looks under the exhaust port.
I fear Dallas & Kevin may be on to something. I would have that cylinder checked.
I'm sure they'll clean up fineThey're all going to Kevin @Moparmyway to get checked. He's offered to check and true up the jugs. His generosity is incredible.
If they're trash, I'm not putting them back on. Simple as that. I'd rather save up and put new non ported p/c back on them than to run them until they blow up, and possibly damage more.

Not just me Sir, Doc Al @drf256 is going to be setting up his lathe for this as well. Easier to ship everything to me, then the good Doc and I are going to work together on getting you all squared away ........ nothing like teamwork to get the job done !!They're all going to Kevin @Moparmyway to get checked. Catching up here but that was my thought too... wonder if it is the same OEM jug?The horizontal lines looks like he buffed the cylinder with pretty coarse emery cloth. I don't know why, it shouldn't have had transfer when sent to him.
Just in one spot? Or is it within .001 all way up the mandrel? How much runout in the mandrel is acceptable for checking things? I've got it under .001.
Can't seem to get it better than that.
Mason is bringing his 395 jug for me to check for him.
