If your 881 is vibrating like you say i think i would take it to the dealer and find out why.
My 881 seems to be pretty smooth.

Have you run 37 gallons of fuel through one? Or have you experienced one in below zero temps where the stock A.V. mounts turn hard as a rock?

One thing after another with this overated, over-priced p.o.s, clad in stylish fan-boy plastics.

Anyhow Lee, it's been back to the dealer and I've talked with Stihl on numerous occasions. The dealer can only do so much with dog sht engineering and inferior materials.

Anyhow, the fix is an echo cs 1201. I'll work a couple more land clearing and milling jobs, then make the much-needed upgrade to a real fkn saw.....

I don't believe the amount of fuel that has been through a saw has any difference on vibration.
Sounds like you have been unhappy with this 881 since day one. If it vibrated i'm sure it did it
on the first gallon and the 37th gallon. Hard AV mounts due to extreme cold weather , Maybe.

All large displacement saws vibrate to a certain degree, Is a 1201 any smoother than your 881,
Who knows. I like my 881 and my 1201 but have never run them side by side.

Another bolo from the stihl-born team: cracked .404 36" bar (in between bar studs).

The vibrations from this 881 ain't no joke.

I'm lucky the 881 powerhead stayed attached, and I caught it in time. Also lucky nobody got hurt.

Have ordered a tsumura 36" replacement.

Homelite Super 1050 A has No anti vibe as in a big motor mounted in a metal frame . I bought one of mine from Joe in Maryland and he used it almost exclusively for milling, I'd think that thing would have eaten bars up?
Maybe Stihl made that saw too powerful and it just breaks stuff like a 427 in a mustang?

My 427 Ford Motor Mustang did not break stuff, Ford drivetrains (top loader 4 speed and 9" rear) were the best!

Put it in a 70 Boss 302 body. Sure fooled a lot of folks!

When you reduced the motor weight with an aluminum intake, the Boss suspension worked just fine.

Those FE Ford motors had huge intakes, it saved lots of weight.

I told folks I had the "real" Boss Mustang!

The Black 68 was a very rare 1968 428 SCJ with the 4:30 drag pack option.

The Green 68 (pictured with the Boss) was a 302 GT. That was my daily driver and it got 18 MPG with a 600 Holley.

Don't know how he managed to do that! Maybe there was something off with his installation.

They used Ford 9" rears at the strip behind every kind of big block you can think of. Lots of GM and Mopar cars were using them.

The Mopar 8.75" looks allmost identical to the Ford 9", 3rd member and all
Most every Mopar I've seen or ran has had an 8.75 or a Dana 60 under them.
Very very rare to see the Ford 9" in a Mopar anywhere.
Take a closer look next time ...........................

Danas used to be rare, and Ford 9" was used a lot.

Things change over time.

I beat the crap out of a lot of 9" rear Fords, most of them with built big blocks (390s, 428 SCJs, 429 and a 427 Ford motor) and I never had one fail.

Ditto the top loader 4 speed with the cast iron housing.

Yup, same here, untill I started with power adders.

Looks like his setup was running a blower, probably a pretty strong setup that would make most every factory setup differential cry.

I've seen the axle walk right out of a 9" going down the road on a least 2 occasions when the bearing retainer failed.
Nothing is bulletproof , but the 9" is damn close.

Not to hijack the thread, but my first dragster was a former top fuel 180" front motored car. It had an 8 & 3/4 rear axle. If you've ever seen the cockpit of one, your legs go over the axle and balls up against the differential. I hadn't heard of any axle issues in the day, hust clutch and engine explosions.

I sold mine, due to being a monster and being able to run my 50inch Cannon on other saws. And just being to much to heave around. But of the biggest saws, the 3120 I had was the smoothest.
I saw a youtube video of them comparing the two,a and they said the 3120 was smoother over the 881.

Knowing Huskys and Stihls overall, but never run the 881. I'm sure it would be Huskys just don't rattle and vibrate like others I've run. And having had a 3120 I couldn't believe the smoothness
