Looks like a dog, hard to say because a stock ms880 is too.
I've never been impressed by any of the truly large saw offerings. 880? Slow. 3120? Like watching paint dry.

Now should a talented porter get ahold of either? Different story.

Well have to see since videos I’ve looked at don’t really impress much. And personally I’d save the 75$ on a bark box by modifying it myself. Besides do they even make one for it? Same muffler as 880 or it’s own definitely things to investigate

Used one finally the other day - has some serious jam compared to the 880s I've used in the past - going to throw a bark box on it
U used a 881 or an old one with cast nuffler.

Yes definitely would I make my own muffler mod before I spend so much money for a bark box

We won't know what the 881 is like untell someone on here gets hold of one. Cut the limiters and muff mod at minimum if it doesn't have a silly low rpm limited coil there is hope.
I'm just wondering when we will start seeing scored exhaust side of pistons running 50:1 in the 881's I mean they use less fuel = less oil getting to where it matters? its predecessor was prone to this if worked hard running 50:1 time will tell I guess.

You must have already pulled the limiters so you can retune after the bark box gets put on. Are you goin to run it enough to finish breaking it in before the bark box or putting it on right away?

So how does the 881 run??

It’s pretty crazy for a bone stock saw, I always thought the 880 was a bit of a letdown for what a hog it was - that feeling is long gone on the 881 - will post some content towards end of the week I think.

A 17lb, 9-10 true HP saw, with spring A/V, Quad ports and strato, with either Auto Tune, or M-Tronic would be the holy grail saw. Between cutting large Osage Orange, and Oaks, the 660 will do it, but like @Douglas Ostrander says"Overkill is Underrated". I believe very much in that. And, a new 881 or 5120 with the above features, is actually affordable, unlike a decent shape 1966 GTO, 1969 Nova, 1970 Chevelle, 1967 Mustang, 1968 Charger, 1966 Stingray Droptop, or 1966 Shelby Cobra 289... It's a different type of hotrod, but at this stage in my life, that's what financially feasible. Now in another 20 years? We'll see!
