A friend of mine, had one on test, unfortunately I never got my hands on it while he had it. He had to send it back.
You can see his channel. But here’s a good bit of milling with it

Btw stihl s launch vid is the saw he had and he is getting The saw back. take a look at the two pics
The sticker and a chip mark just under it are the same.
His pic from a vid on his channel and stihls vid a pic of it

Hayes equipment just loaded new 881 vs 880 video on YouTube. 10 min video they kept speeding cuts up so hard to tell if the 881 is more powerful or not then the 880. Like the sound better myself but I guess time will tell I’d like to play with one on my 72” milling bar and then put my 090 on it in same tree to see the difference

I kinda have the same opinion which is sad because the latest version of the 880 was not the most impressive stock. Thought they said it was a beech log so pretty hard

They need a way to accurately measure/time the cuts using same good test wood, same bar, same chain and same operator.

Thank you. I actually did see that, but thought it was more of a joke video than actually testing video.
These guys made some cuts, but they need some help and guidance as far as actual testing goes.

yes, I replied and put a thumbs down, I thought it was a joke of a comparison. It does sound that the 881 holds more rpm in the cut,, but why ? Idk

Also they had an unboxing video the other day so I’m sure that saw isn’t broke in yet. I’d imagine they take some fuel through them before they have full power like the other ones do

Other than being new and shiny, the only drive I’d have to get the 881 over my 880 is if it comes with mtronic . I sold my ported 660 to get a ported 661 for milling. Just seems to hold the low end load better and powers through. If the 881 mtronic would act like the 661 then that would be the largest upgrade for me.

If your 090 has AV, with 72"bar buried, I'm betting your gonna like it better than the other two, and by a lot. Under a 60" bar, the other two may shine.

Starting to realize after watching a second time they don’t really know much about the engine itself when talking about fuel usage. Fundamentally they’re the same engine but the 881 being the newer 2mix design it’s easier on gas
