Ok...... back to discussing the upgrade to unlimited coil.
I was pointed in the direction of the thread @Definitive Dave posted listing all the bits and part numbers

I am wanting to keep the stock small crank and case but upgrade to the later 066 unlimited coil.

The options are below:

1122 400 1209 – 066 for limited coils
1122 400 1209/1214 - 066 marked with both numbers but only one keyway
1122 400 1209/1214 – 066 double keyway
Keyway X or B is furthest clockwise for unlimited coils
Keyway P is furthest counterclockwise for limited coils
1122 400 1210 – 066 for limited coils with generator
1122 400 1214 - 066, 066M unlimited with larger big end bearing from early 1995 [95.01ipl] **
1122 400 1215 – 066 redeye

My saw currently runs the 1209 flywheel with the red light coil
The 1214 flywheel is out because I have to replace most of the saw to fit it.

I am thinking the 1209/1214 double key way flywheel is the one I need???

Dave, would love some help :)

I think that is the flywheel you need and it will let you use the generic cheap universal coil.
I spent a lot of time trying to get my head around the 064 ignitions and whatever I learned about the 066/660 was almost accidental :)

I have done some hard thinking about what I need saw wise.
As much as I love this red light, it wont do anything my later model 066 wont.
By the time I go through the costly process of converting it to an unlimited coil, it will be the same as the later model 066 i already have.

I want a larger saw for milling and am wondering if anyone in Aus had a nice 084 or 088 power head they would be interested in swapping for the 066 red light I have?

One Day,
That coil on the RL will go: $300 later, you will have a running saw.

Sell it

The best red light cylinder I've degreed is one I got a couple weeks ago, it's 94 117 82
There is gobs of newer cylinders with better timing.

Most mahles will be 96 120 78 give or take with a much thicker base.
Those are great candidates for turning a piston.

It will run fine with those numbers but it's not a good cylinder to port.

I put them in a box and leave them there and use a decomp cylinder instead.

What would happen if a guy were to machine the piston for lower exhaust but leave the rest of the port timing alone?
