If you don't get the start pull right, it will tear your fingers off your hand.
It needs to be brought to TDC and then yanked hard!

Holding the rear handle between the legs to start would only be advisable for females!

advanced timing will do that ( i assumed that was done, didnt read it). thats where the elasto start make it more forgiving.

i always start hi comp and timing adv's saws on the ground..70cc and above :)

It had stock timing but the red light coils are ment to be further advanced than the unlimited coils

That's why I didn't touch the flywheel key

Well, as things go round, my plans didn't work out, so I have decided to just stick with 2 x 066's that I know are good saws.

The red light will have its jug, piston, coil and flywheel put in a safe spot for a rainy day.
A sub 200 psi decomp jug and slug will go on.
I have aranged for a very generous member in the US to get that dual keyway flywheel to me for the job and I am now researching the final piece of the puzzle.

The coil.

I am after a bit of advice from the experts on what coil I should fit to run with the dual keyway coil: 1122 400 1209/1214 – 066 double keyway

Before I order one, I want to make sure I am using the right one for the job.

Coil options:

Ignition Coils

0000 400 1300 – 066 Lida standard unlimited “short” mount **

0000 400 1303 – 066 2nd Lida EY-V unlimited

0000 400 1305 – 066 Lida Standard unlimited

1122 400 1300 – 064, MS640 unlimited, Bosch E1-V “dogleg” mount [87.1ipl]

1122 400 1303 – 064 Prufex CDIC limited (12,000 RPM) Prufex [92.12ipl]

1122 400 1307 – 066 CDIC-A limited (13,500 RPM) including 066 red eye model

1122 400 1311 – 064/066 original Lida EY-V unlimited, easier starting, short life span [95.01ipl]

installed starting X 31 067 164 on 064 and 066

1122 400 1312 - 066 poly flywheel three screw mount

1122 400 1314 – 066, MS650, MS660 Lida standard unlimited two screw mount

The pro top is their top of the line bar.
The CN40 is a pro top with a slightly higher hardness rating

That is the Pro Top bar.
They now make them as an Orange/Black bar which I like :)

They only make a 28" for Husky's

Thanks mate
I didn't want to buy a coil until I knew for sure it would work.
I will chase one of the repo coils, see how it goes

hsell, as much as I appreciated lastabjohn's input, "pretty sure" isn't enough sure enough for me to buy a coil and risk damaging the saw if its wrong.

We are not all experts on here and when learning, the best I can do is ask

What would happen if a guy were to machine the piston for lower exhaust but leave the rest of the port timing alone?

Wouldn't notching the top of the piston effectively raise the exhaust?
The notched section would open the exhaust port sooner.
