35 should have a larger main jet than the 67 I believe
Not sure if either has a removable jet though

WJ35 top
WJ67 bottom

Jet sizes look similar but the 67 has a removable jet.

I can't see any big advantage in the removable jet carb on this saw as it will never be a ported compression monster.

I re-measured the Venturi and they are the same.

I am thinking I will stick with the 35 on the saw.

I can't see it holding the saw back

Ok

So this thread is not meant to be about just my saw.

Who else has a red light?

Pictures, stories, information, carbs, port timing numbers, video's....... get em up!

I prefer the wj35 over the other carbs, the removable jet is not a priority of mine.

How does a wj 67 without limiter caps compare to the wj 69 with limiter caps. From my findings the 67 was before the 69

It's a good carb also,I've not had any problems from any of them.

I do like the adjustment screws that are the long old school ones.

I have rebuilt the WJ-35 and fitted it to the saw.
I figure if there is not going to be any real difference, I would prefer to keep all original parts that came with the saw, on the saw.

I set the screws to 1 1/4 turns each and it kicked up and idled no problems at all, but you really notice the difference the elasto-start cords make.
If your not super confident and forceful with the cord from TDC, it punishes you for having chicken wings!

I am in love with it!

If I get a chance to run it over the Easter long weekend, I will try and get a video of it in action

My flywheel cover has seen better days.
The mounting holes are enlarged, it is broken and flogged out where the chain brake attaches and the STIHL Made in Germany badge has a hole punched in it.

I would LOVE it if someone out there had an original red light flywheel cover in good "not broken" condition that whey would be happy to part with.

I have a wire wrapped around the ignition lead.
It works fairly well but what tach would you recommend?

I haven't tried that one with the wire, maybe that does help a little.

I have a Hard Line but haven't tried it yet. I'm behind on my saw projects

Had a play with the red light today
Went great, no issues, but I dont think the red light works 100% correctly. It was hard to tell in bright sunlight.

Anyway, It maxes out at 13500 rpm and I ended up bringing the tune back to about 12400 or so, but it was boggy in the cut when I really lent on it. Could have been the 8 pin in filthy hard timber too.
It held about 9200 RPM in the cut
I had a bit more of a fiddle with the L and H to try and find a sweet spot and I got it better but it still has more.

Here it is with its first basic tune.
20" bar 3/8 full chisel chain and an 8 pin sprocket.
Timber is dry and really hard. No pine to make it look faster here.

I am looking forward to a bit of time running the saw, getting to know it and touching up the tune as I go.
It is an absolute tank of a saw and is fast becoming my favorite.

I am going back to a 7 pin sprocket. I dont like the high speed chain in the hard timber. I feel I get a better cut with a 7 pin.
I plan to do some tests on this.

Next is to get the timing numbers and perhaps a touch of mild machine work to improve the numbers if needed.

Ha ha

Old mate got back to me saying no to my offer of $200 because they were in perfect working order???

I replied saying I had not seen a 25 year old used chainsaw that was "perfect"

Poor choice of words from him I think
