Yeah, its a difficult one.

I have a poly flywheel 066 in parts and I could pinch the crank, flywheel and unlimited coil to fit into the redlight saw.
I want to use the saw...... it would be a waste to keep is as a wall hanger because it is far from a NIB condition saw.

I do however, wish to preserve the hard to find working redlight coil and not snap the shaft off the original crank if the saw grabs in some of the nasty hard wood we cut here.

Did we end up deciding if anything needed to be done to the case to make this conversion happen?

Deets, I tried to get one of the CN40 bars but they no longer make them under a 44" length

Hang onto it!

I ordered the Pro Top bar in stead, and they have recently changed this line from grey to orange.
I was rather chuffed cause I love the orange!

And watch out when you sit down...... I think your dog did something bad

I used poly flywheel cases.
I guess there is short poly cases or all the short case stuff will work on the long case.

I had about 6 saws that I built mine from and I can't remember what I used.

Haha.... slack bastard, stealing your dogs bone while its asleep on the lounge.

Now reading back over this again, I can change the red light coil out for the unlimited coil if its a dual key flywheel.
I don't plan to make this saw a compression monster, or run big bars on it so I may just swap out the coils and be happy.

That heavy flywheel would have to make good torque as long as I am careful

The only reason I changed mine is I couldn't keep a flywheel side bearing from failing.

Ok... well that is the line I will take.

I would like to get my hands on a 2nd carb cover and filter cover to modify so I can fit a velocity stack and pod filter.
I am over the stock filters blocking up changing the tune.

Just popped the flywheel off and found its a single key setup.

Does this mean I can't bolt on an unlimited coil ?

Yes, you're correct. You'll need a different flywheel to work with the unlimited coil.

What's the PN on the back of your flywheel? 1209?

1209 only works with the limited coil. You can broach a new key way to mod the 1209 to work with the unlimited coil.

Why is the key way needed? Can't you just tighten up the flywheel in the desired location without any Key?

Sure, but the added insurance of the key way is the best way to roll.

I think I will just run it as is.

Just pulled the jug and it and the piston are all OEM and in near new condition.

Very happy!
