The interior of the filter housing and the choke flap needs to be modified to really get any useable amount of air through to the carb its self no matter what type of covering the airfilter has on it. The mesh filters breathe the best, I have run them on 026`s for more than 10 years now without ruining a piston.

IIRC you can't do a total gasket delete with the 44mm cylinder. The squish will end up around .009-.010. So you would have to find something thinner then the original gasket to replace it with.
If you have a 44.7mm cylinder you may be able to do a complete gasket delete. I was able to delete the gasket with my ms260.(44.7 mm cylinder) My squish after the gasket delete ended up around .018 and the compression was around 190.
Either way be sure and check your squish if you decide to try and do a gasket delete
Or he can use an old piston and sandpaper and fix the squish

I think they also make 2 different gaskets for the 026 best I remember but its been awhile since I fooled with an 026. Been running the 346xp a bit and after breakin in I retuned that lil booger and it still 4 stroked at 15000rpm

I'm carbooter poor now thanks to @dall and @stihl saws i got a adjustable carb on the saw and got it tuned it was a little finicky getting it set just right but it is running great no more bog and excellent piss reving throttle response. I modded the muffler and discovered my drill refuses to work so i modded the outlet with pliers and plan to go back in and do some clean up it didn't make it that much louder but it sure helped with throttle response.
I got a video uploading to youtube right now :coleman:.

Nice. You need to just hold the throttle wide open for a short 3 to 4 second burst to hear the 2 stroking.
I take it from the video that you are running 32:1. You should see a little smoke at top end if it is 2 stroking correctly.
As soon as you put the saw into wood, it will clear up.
And I know you said you wanted to keep the saw stock, but if you want throttle response, get it ported. You will be glad you did! They become very, very zippy! It will put a smile on your face. You will go looking for s@hit to cut. Lol

Due to a lack of sleep i decided to go through the carbs i got now my old original is not worth a damn i cracked it open and found corrosion and stiff diaphragms that reminded me of card stock. Both of the carbs from dallas are working but the 194 needs a kit it has a rippled pump diaphragm the wt 22?? it is working fine both had a lot of sawdust on the inside but my old crappy carb had a lot also lol, I guess the itelli carb thingy catches saw dust.
The carb from mark doesn't even look it has been used much could only find evidence it was used for a short period of time, I got spares now but that is better than no spares and im already looking a 024 wood boss on the local craigslist so i might have a use for the spares anyway.

here is the pics of the carb from mark and no i didn't clean it i just popped off the covers to check it out.
its a walbro wt 827

What are the preset adjustments if using a walbro WT194 on an 026? Is it 1 and 1 on the H and L?

Saw sounds good for a stock saw. It also looks extremely clean and in great shape.
