So I sold my 084 on fleabay about 1 1/2 months ago to a lady in Florida who was probably going to use it for storm cleanup. No communication from her in that time frame and no feedback either. The saw was in great shape when it left my house, fired it up before I put it in the box, piston was clean and had lots of compression. So last nite I was going through my email and I had a dispute from Paypal. This lady claims that I misrepresented the saw and the top end is roached. Wants her money back. Paypal says she will probably get her money back and then if I want to I can file an appeal. Are you kidding?!! She used my saw for a month (I highly doubt that she used it) roached the top end and gets her money back. Whatever happened to taking responsibility for your actions or those whom you are responsible for. I know, I know, I shouldn't have sold it on ebay. But GD, this just sucks. That is about 1k that I have to pay for somebody basically renting my saw and returning it to me damaged. Pissed off is the understatement of the century. I was starting to get the old stinking thinking about going down to Florida when I get that chainsaw running and just letting it rip through her house while she stares in amazement, then turning around and telling her there is nothing wrong with this saw. I am amazed at the balls of some people. I couldn't sleep last nite I was so pissed. Anybody have this happen to them and how did you deal with it besides a kick in the sack?
Total CRAP! I know she put straight gas in it. So stupid!
Yep... People suck!
Other than a small envelope of people that have collected here. :)

Dallas, the only ones I know to authorize subpeonas is the law. I think a judge has to authorize them. Not sure. But I know they're not easy to get. Thats why Paypal is communist...no transparency. The buyer is always right and the seller has none. Common sense should tell them that after she had it a month that things could happen to anything. But their rules are made by yuppie, pinko slackers that don't have any common sense and can only regurgitate one thing...money. Feel sorry for slobs like that. I hope the fault line becomes active and wipes Silicone Valley and all its arrogance off the map. Won't hurt my feelings one bit. I was going to say California but there are many good people there, just not the executives of Paypal.

Yeah, thats what I'm going to do Dallas. I'm approaching it with the attitude that it will all work out in the long run. Lesson learned. Ebay and Paypal will not get any large sums of my money anymore. Nickel and dime maybe. Its somehow made me sharp around the edges. Just gotta sell some more firewood I guess.

People suck. We have that happen at the shop, but they can't just Get their money back because we take the saw apart first to determine if it's a defect or the customer being to stupid to use the equipment. And this may sound Mean, but what does woman think she is doing by purchasing an 084????? She probably couldn't even Pull start the dern thing! Mainly being an 084! I can understand a 390 and smaller...but an 084???? EDIT: Don't take me wrong....just seems crazy. lol.

Send me the saw and I'll fix it for nothing and I can add value by porting it and I'll do that for free also.
Maybe be able to make the money back you've lost.

Has anyone ever read the entire e-Bay or PayPal User Agreements word for word? When you click the "I accept" button you are agreeing to their terms. Most of the stuff people complain about is covered there but people just automatically click and accept without knowing what they are being bound to. It is unfortunate that sellers take the short end and have to place so many caveats in their ads, but e-Bay would not survive as a business if their customers were shafted and lost their money. They want people to be able to buy with confidence.

There is a difference between buying with confidence and just plain arrogance. I beleive Ebay would do just fine because of its exposure of items that you can't get anywhere else. There also is a difference between buying withconfidence and taking advantage of the system. Just like some of the deductions in my pay are due to some people "taking advantage of the system." If you had somebody come into your shop, buy a used saw that started and ran fine, and 1 month later come back to your shop and tell you that you sold them a peice of shat with a toast top end , would you give them there money back? Ebay is a self proclaimed auction house. If I bought something at the auction and then 1 month later turned around and wanted to return it they would laugh me off the premises. I know why Ebay and Paypal have those policies in place. Its to protect their bottom line , which is the buyer, but they didn't have the buyers best interests in their mind when they made those policies I can guarantee you. The return policy is a farce. People can just buy from the system and return whatever they like. I get it now. But there also are many, many honest people on there that trust in people and get burned by 1 or more a-holes. I get that. As far as their policies, I don't have time to read 5 or 6 pages of legalese of pure BS that doesn't make sense (and I am an educated man) just like I didn't read the majority of my mortgage. Thats why I pay a lawyer, to decipher what other lawyers are saying. This much I do know is that I have a choice to participate or not in those sites, and this guy chooses not to. It certainly won't have an impact on their stock but what it WILL do is give me piece of mind knowing that I am participating in a peaceful protest, just like the constitution allows. And by doing so I will not contribute to a company makes its money off of people like me therefore not contributing to their bottom line. It is not a right afforded by a communist company whose only interest is themselves, not the community of buyers and sellers, but a right afforded to me by the founders of this country who, although not perfect themselves, tried to lay down what was right and protect us from people infringing on our liberties. I will go down to my little independent dealer down the street, contact people that I have bought alot of on ebay like Bryce Stott, or use sites such as this to acquire what I want. This thing is probably the best thing that could have happened to me. I WILL NOW CLIMB DOWN OFF MY SOAPBOX.

TLDR, bottom line is if you don't like their policies don't use their platform. In the end there is nothing we can do to help you or change the system. You either play by their rules or stay on the sidelines.

I understand your frustration, but I can't do anything to change your situation.

this may sound mean, but what the hell is a Woman think she is doing by purchasing an 084????? She probably couldn't even Pull start the dern thing!

Actually TJ, the above statement just sounds ignorant. Sorry, buddy, but there's lots of female athletes who complete in chainsaw competitions. Might want to keep this particular opinion of women to yourself lest one of them show you up in a hot saw class, then kick your @ss...920x920.jpg

I have you on ignore (the above post illustrates why), but after Ryan posted your drivel I feel compelled to respond.

Your attitude about women may have flown 80 years ago, but times have changed. I had a woman call me 3 weeks ago to see if I could order a non M-tronic 261. Seems her local dealer was not willing to try, I told her I could. She gave me her credit card info and I ordered the saw and called her when it came in. She drove and hour and 45 minutes to pick it up and was happy to get what she wanted.

Perhaps when you grow up and move away from Mommy you will better understand women.

Ebay's policies can be summed up in one phrase,"high volume sellers". That's where they make their money. A high volume seller can afford a FEW hits and the payback doesn't hurt them. My one and only claim against a seller was just like that. A cheap item that never showed. A review of the few negatives all said the same thing. Never received,no communication,eBay resolved.

And I stated that I would not use their platform anymore. And I didn't ask you to do anything for me. It reverts back to my question: would you give a man his money back on a chainsaw that you knew was good? I sincerely doubt it. You didnt get that big pole barn by being a rug. Just because it is the way it is does NOT mean that its acceptable to all people. I can accept Paypal for being so close minded but the unacceptable part comes in to where I refuse to do business with them anymore. I was expressing my frustration and disbeleif that Paypal would go against even their policies and not exercise some common sense. I have been in the Customer service industry for 40 years, and though I was taught the customer is right, I also was taught to use disgression when dealing with people whose situatiin could go either way. Try to find a win win situation for an outcome. It certainly didn't happen this time. Maybe just having an ear and being understanding was all that I was asking for. Sometimes you just need a shoulder to cry on. I don't know about your situation, but a grand is a chunk of change plus the repair costs. If you can, then more power to you. People that truly know me know I'm an honorable man, and I guess I just felt like I was violated to some degree.
