Plenty of rod bearings have failed in snowmobiles and those are always near upright.
This is true but I’m thinking that the side load may have not helped in the combination, lots of the oil falls to the bottom of the case which in an upright condition includes the main and rod bearings on way down. When milling the oil doesn’t get on the lower rod bearing along with the rewind side bearing when mounted in a mill so maybe bearing was less than perfect and running on its side may have been the final straw.

why would it make any differenc what orientation the saw is in? when the charge is drawn in it is distributed the same all over weather the saw is upside down or right side up. the isnt enough time for gravity to affect it. the engine is spinning at t 13000 rpm every charge is in and out in a milisecond.

Yes it is but the oil is falling out of that charge and I know there is turbulence to move it around but yes it actually does make some difference what way the engine it held on oiling the bearings. A saw running on its side for long periods of time will not lube the upper side case bearing as well and to a lesser degree the rod. Oil falling out or the fuel charge lays on the bearings and race on way to bottom of case. No pressure to force the oil that falls out of the mix charge up into the bearings. Also what is falling is going through the bearing easier because it’s not landing on the outer race and getting trapped in the bearings for a longer time.

It’s not the charge that lubes the saw per say it’s the oil droplets that are heavier falling out of the charge that does. And yes I agree a saw will receive some lubrication at any angle but it will be the most when it’s upright bucking logs.

im not trying to start a debate and i understand that the oil falling out of the charge is what lubricates but when it is being spray out so rapidly there isnt time for and kind of falling its being forced out in every direction no matter the orientation of the saw if it mattered it wouldnt run for very long unless it was right side up. other two stroke tools are built exactly the same way but spend their whole liif cycle being run on its side like a weed eater for example is ran sideways always. it doesnt make sense. a timber fallers chainsaw is ran sideways far more than right side up.

I’d rather the decent content be left here. Because of the exact reason it screws the threads up

Yes. When that fuel oil charges the case it’s a constant flow. As long as it’s running the bottom is or should be constantly lubricated by the mix. Right side up or upside wrong.

Seriously??? That’s insane!!! And a shame! I’m speechless…

Over the years I have taken a lot of heat from folks about testing I do. By deleting it you are only making all the hard work you have done worthless. Best policy it to just let those who want to learn take what they will from it right or wrong.

dude I promise I wouldn’t run the Lucas. I posted pictures in the what oil is best what ratio thread. Lord knows what page. I had a saw wear my rod bearing out. It was oil related. 40:1 Ported saw. But the dryness and wear is what killed it. No piston scuff No cylinder damage. Bearing wire enough to let the piston hit the roof.

just run anything but that dude. I promise. I’m an oil hoe. I run anything too. I really do. Yeah even oil that’s given to me. Even ultra. All of it but that. If you must use the bottle up go 25:1. 40 isn’t enough. I dong think 32 is if you’re gonna run the saw
I ran 25:1 and it was nothing buy dry & corroded

Do what you want. But I did have a failure. I warned this whole site about it
Me too .......................

The guy that did the testing deleted every post he had on this forum because of butthurt. He is likely the thinnest of thin skinned people to have ever lived. Can't handle any type of disagreement, or being called out for any wrongs he has committed. To get involved with him would be a mistake. Just use whatever oil you like at the proper ratio.....live your life and be happy.

We're gonna see if we can add them all back. They're not actually deleted permanently. Just because....

As long as the deleted stuff is being looked at being returned, is there any reason that the information that he sent in individual information requests couldn't be "added" to the information repository as well??? :ole:

Supertech full synthetic did really well for me for a long time. I don't shop at Evilmart anymore, their automotive section is the only thing I miss. I was gifted a fair amount of Stihl Ultra and have been using it at 40:1. My machines seem to really like it, but I'll probably go back to VP or Amsoil when it runs out.

I don't know I was not in the loop, but from some of the later testing posts, it seemed that results were being distributed by message...upon request.

I left the oil PM a long time ago. It was sorta toxic to me.
