Walked to the local river,, we had a atmospheric river last week ,, the river came up 8ft,,
last week you would almost walk across it,,,
its come down 3-4ft
another storm coming.

that island used to be connected to the dike

Which river is it?
Its the Tulameen River
Flows into Similkameen river then to the USA

This river rose and covered the island and is now receding.
Bad weather is near over.

I went over to our neighbors log pile today, 2 hours from when I let to when I got back and finished unloading and I got half a cord of sassafras, black walnut, and oak.
Sassafras is not something I am familiar with. I will check it out on the web. But is it in the same class as Locust and Black Walnut for firewood? Smoke aroma? Easy to split? Just curious.

Smells kind of spicy. Burns faster and hotter than the other two with the stove closed up but it lights so incredibly easy! Crazy easy to split and I got 3 dump trailer loads to split. And then there's 2 loads each of black walnut and cherry, and endless oak.

50 below F
So stoking the boiler and staying warm
Took care of a big pile of paperwork today

Another 50 above F day here in Wyoming. WTF is going on? Weather above freezing forecast out into January. Usually we’re down around or below zero. 70mph wind gusts though, and my wood stove keeps puffing smoke through the door when the wind blows.

A rotating roof helps, although not every chimney is round

I used to get black walnut cut off from grade resort. the clear grain 2-3-6" long would split so easy with a small hatchet and start a fire fast and dependable. Hard to beat but it sounds like Sassafras will. Thanks.

Do you have regular single wall stove pipe from the stove I looked back to an earlier post. Many chimney installs have the crimped ends "BACKERTZ? It should be so if you pour water in the pipe the water will funnel into the stove not to the outside of your pipe via the crimp connection. I could not tell how you have yours in the picture.
Is your insulated pipe a Selkirk brand?

Yeah, it’s definitely installed correctly. Chimney pipe is Selkirk metalbestos

TWAS A THOUGHT. How hot does your black single wall pipe run? Does it backdraft when the pipe is Don't dare touch it hot?
From myside of the keyboard I question the draft. Good luck..

It burns clean and it's easy to light. Other than that it's nothing special, above silver maple but under locust/oak/walnut.

I need to get a thermometer on the pipe. But this morning, it was not hot. I was trying to get a fire going, but the 70+ mph gusts were backdrafting down into my stove and I couldn’t get a good current flowing since the fire kept getting blown out. This hasn’t usually been an issue
