Around 20 years ago, one Sunday morning, there was a Ford SUV sitting out in the middle of one of our fields along the river. It was buried and had cut ruts getting out there. Dad called the sheriffs department and an officer came out. After running the plates they got the registered owner on the phone. He said he owned it but it was his son's daily vehicle. The man said he would come try to get it out. Dad said HELL NO, not until it dries up as you already did enough damage. The officer told Dad could not prevent them from coming after it. Dad shook his head and said oh hell yes I can. If they enter the will be trespassing. The officer really did not have a reply. It sat there for well over a week before it was dry enough. When they finally got a tow truck out to it the windows had been broken out.

I want to be clear I truly do not know who broke them out. I did not do it, my Father did not do it, my brother says he did not.

the mfwd final drives on the 955 have a little more play than I like & since I planned to add weights on the front for bush hogging I might as well change the bearings, seals, seal sleeves & gaskets before things get even more expensive.

this was about $600 total from the JD mothership. I ordered the parts early yesterday morning & everything but 1 weight got delivered today.

I have a feeling the 955 was kept in 4x4 most of life before I bought it & just made the bearings sloppy overtime.

Many decades ago a buddy of mine had a good ole Oliver 70 that he won pulls with. He lost interest in it and sold it for $350. The weights were an extra $1000

How much is a weight like that? I sold some for $85 each

$80 and some change each, might as well say $2/lb, they're 42lbs. I found some aftermarket copies that were $65 a piece but they were a few hours away.

the worst part of buying used equipment is you don't know the maintenance history, doing this type of work is peace of mind for me. but I also keep a log book of everything I do for the majority of my equipment (including my truck).

Probably 500 people today decided to drive past a baby fox dragging its back legs down the shoulder of Rt 322. Unfortunately it will probably be euthanized but it’s better than getting hit again or suffering until it starves. People suck, I’ll update if there is good news.

Problem or not if you see something in this condition you should do something. You don’t see many around here. I operated a sewer plant down a long easement that no one was allowed on. Every once in a while I’d see the young ones out running around the lane. Developments everywhere and yuppies calling the game commission claiming they are aggressive doesn’t help.

If I see any animal in distress I act accordingly based on the situation.
If I see vermin such as coyotes in trouble I will gladly do something to assist..............



My nephew found those vermin in one of my fields with thermal imaging and assisted them with a bit of 5.56mm.

Several years back I was cleaning out loose hay and straw from one of my barn lofts. There was a coon up there and she ran over and hid in the corner. I was shoving all the hay and straw out the door onto the feedlot. I did not notice until it was too late but there was a nest of young coons that got shoved out. My dog dispatched them. I was able to save one and put it in a box for the ole sow to come back after later. She did so and it lived.
