Agree patience is essential. When frustration sets in, and it will, quit and come back later. Even a half hour later...
I hold the stone and use a monkey wrench to remove arbor nut. It is not supposed to be more than snug.
Don’t breathe the dressing dust.
I find a paint brush and shop vac very handy to keep stuffs clean. (I hate grit!)

Affects of wheel shape on top plate and side plate angles. Tilting dresser block so wing nut is closer to motor will increase forward lean (what they are calling sharper hook) That is a huge factor on self feeding. The top of the stone controls the top plate angle. Generally, SG has slightly less top plate angle. Say 25 ish instead of 30 ish seen on round.

While new to square grinding chain, I’m not new to machine grinders whatsoever.

Always ring test a wheel before mounting, if the grinding wheel doesn’t ring, it’s damaged and throw it in the trash.

The paper blotters (yes they are called blotters) on both sides of the grinding wheel are there to keep the wheel from cracking buy taking up misalignment on both flanges.

For rough dressing a wheel, throw the big block in the long grass and get a Norbide Stick, they will dress with precision for cheap and last a long time, they can also be used on a round grinder to make any profile you desire including Hexa.

Single point diamond dressers are better than multi point, however chain grinders don’t dress with the diamond at the correct angle, which is why multi point dress a wheel better. The diamond should be at a 30 degree angle into the direction of rotation.

Cold air guns will save your wheel , keep the tooth cool and keep the dust away from you.

I don’t like this…Wife’s in the early stages of COPD, light cardio can get some lung capacity back, but be careful. Randy please go see a specialist, my wife has very few issues as they caught it early.

I do all my grinding and stone dressing outside. One of the old technicians I worked with at the dealership had real bad lungs from 21 years of grinding dust exposure. He said it's worse than Coal dust because the fine particulate has sharper edges.

Sorry to hear that boss - start now, like Wayne said - Turmeric and garlic can help a lot, along with exercise.

A good friend of mine died from crack, but while he was still alive, he explained his struggle very clearly:

You don’t do crack, crack does you !

Ever since his funeral, I am very grateful to hear when anyone kicks the crack outta their life !

i did cocaine the first time when i was 13 or 14. I really liked it. in high school i had a really good connection and i did it every weekend for years. i had a pretty good/bad habit. when i was 19 or 20 someone at a party was free basing ie smoking crack and making it out of the good coke i supplied. i really liked it. i did it like that til i did crank the first time which was the old school biker dope that got you super high. that for the next 15 years was my undoing. it all changed back to crack when the meth that was around was garbage. i then made a new connection to someone that had really good coke and off to the races i went smoking crack daily until i was 38 when i went to treatment. i gratefully have been blessed with recovery for 17 years now and it amazes me every day that it has been that long since i have had a cold beer on a hot summer day. I lost a bunch of things in my life because of drugs and alcohol including almost my life on more than once. I have known and been friends with several people that have died because of addiction. I am always very sorry to hear of someone that has passed because of this horrible disease. I have worked really hard to get the things i have now. i know that it would all be gone with one tiny mistake by trying to solve some temporary problem by going to the bar. wow that was way more info than i expected to type. but there it is
