Those BCS are nice, but man they are expensive, even used ones.

Yes they are. I was able to pick that one up at a local auction for $10 bucks! The catch was I very well knew it needed about $1000 in parts to return to service. Was well worth it for what it is.

I would but haven't ran one to see if it is worth the extra$$$$$

I totally agree with you. If it wasn't for growing up with one I probably wouldn't have bought mine. I would like to get a bigger one to utilize a few of the bigger attachments that I think would be handy around the place.

The rotary plow intrigues me.

I agree. They look to start a new bed really well. I really want a power harrow but my model is too small for it. It's about 12k for the tractor and the attachments I want if I just dropped it all at once.

$450. New Tecumseh LH318XA motor, spare set of tines, set of thatchers and a spare tranny.
Old gas in it (sat for quite some time) so runs rough but that's an easy fix. Will drain tank, get new non-e gas and may pull the carb for a cleaning.
Sure is fast...plowed a whole section in a few minutes.
😃

Best investment for new ground! I have a smaller 732 that will run the rotary plow. Almost wish I went with a larger Grillo brand, but I also have full size tractors if I need them. Prices have gotten ridiculous, but what hasn’t?!? My son has been making a few dollars plowing gardens in the local subdivisions using mine. People want a garden but can’t get a normal tractor in their small lots or between houses, so he goes and plows them with the rotary. It DOES NOT like buried fiber optic drops though!!!

Here’s my little beast. A Predator 43cc mini tiller/cultivator. Before I got this, I tilled a small 10x12 garden in the backyard using my Husqvarna 128LD with the mini tiller attachment. Took me a while, but that Husqvarna never skipped a beat. I used to have a 1982 TroyBilt Horse tiller, but I sold it last year because I was out of room to store it.

Was at Home Depot last August and came across a pallet of NIB Champion dirt choppers on clearance for $149 sitting in the corner of the garden department. Regularly $499. It came home with me. Was skeptical but figured if i didn't like it, i could Craigslist it and easily get my money back. After tilling a few rows in the garden late last fall, i was sold on it. Good power, starts easily, good tine speed and has reverse.

Since you bought in store did you do the additional 11% rebate, since Menards was having some sale?

HD rebate FORMALLY matched works on most all products bought in store when those other guys are having 11%off.
Here's the rebate site
HomeDepot 11% rebate match

edit: to show rebate match ended

I had a 1982 TroyBilt Horse tiller and it was an absolute beast. I sold it last summer and the guy was thrilled with it. I pulled the top gearbox cover and drained/refilled the gearbox before tilling the garden, and the gears still looked like new. That was what clinched it for the guy to buy it because I put the open gearbox pics in the sale ad. If you have the space to store it, they are hard to beat.

Do any of you guys have any experience with a TroyBilt Horse tiller and a BSC
Do you mean BCS? I have worked in a few TB Horses over the years. We had one for years and dad let it go when we moved and he was over gardening. A retired coworker of mine has two in GREAT shape, but he recently passed away. His wife is still wanting to garden so I’m going to go get one and go through it. He always kept his equipment in top shape so I don’t expect to need to do much other than change the oil. Tough machines that last forever if taken care of. As far as BCS, I have a 732. I bought it for gardening mostly. If I was to do it again, I would get a bigger one with steering brakes so I could use the mower implements better. They have a cone clutch (newer ones have some other safety clutch), geared trans, and can run several implements. Check out EarthTools BCS for ideas of what you can get for them.

I got this little guy from Amazon for $170 after a coupon. Even though it doesn’t say it, it’s a NeoTec. It worked really well but oddly I can’t find it on there anymore.IMG_1184.jpegIMG_1183.jpeg

I’m about to buy one for the raised beds I just built. You like it so far?

1984 8hp Troy-bilt Horse bought new.

The raised beds in the background were all dug 30" deep and back filed with composted wood chips mixed with the removed soil.

I did away with the 30 4'x16' beds and till it all now. Much less work than the beds were.

It really did great. It has enough power to just start churning with the tines in the dirt. I never did run it full throttle.
