Muffler mod I did on a dolmar 510 i just finished porting. Typical dolmar muffler, pain in the as$. I uncrimped it, split it and took baffle out. Matched ex port to muffler, opened up original port a little and added a second port with deflector. I didnt like the way the exhaust flows out the original port. When it comes out of the saw its angled down slightly then has to go up and back to the back of mufgler and then out the port. Kinda makes a big loop. So I really wanted to get another port in it somewhere. I don't like them going straight out the front and prefer them on the sides. Took me a little while to make somethin up to fit but I like the way it turned out. Can't wait to see how it runs now. ( wow thst turned into a novel. Lol ) [emoji42][emoji42]

Even if on the side were do you think it throws it.with a deflector on it

If you say so.i know my 044s 036s 361s have husky dflectors on recoil side and my 064 is factory dual port when there buried to the felling spikes. And tree is wider then your saw no matter what the heat bounces off tree and you feel it so ok.

How do you think the exhaust travels, once it leaves the cylinder, through your muffler with its mods, and then the same question for a side discharge muffler mod ?

Really nice job. I am curious to see if that Aluminum muffler heats up more than the stamped steel. Would a piece of aluminum heat up so much that it melts anything? I am not up on my metallurgy.
I love the huge outlet.
Looks sexy.
Seems like it would dissipate heat better than steel? I think some versions of the 880 have a cast aluminum muffler.

Should of done a little build thread on that Dolmar. They don't get the most fanfare in some parts lol.

True Nick, but the aluminum heats up faster and radiate more heat.
Jeff, if it's radiating more heat that means it isn't retaining as much. Does that make sense? You feel more but the retained temperature of aluminum is actually lower. Think about the material our cylinders are made of buddy.

Yea I know, I've had a couple people tell me to do more build threads. I didn't take any pics of cylinder though. [emoji53] it's a new 45mm open port cylinder. He should of upgraded to the 5100 closed port. But I like these saws. Very well built.

LOL. True dat. I told you I wasn't up on my metallurgy. [emoji2]
The jug is constantly getting cooler air to it during the intake, so I bet it doesn't get as hot as the muffler, that just gets hot exhaust.
But I am with you. Just trying to figure this out. [emoji106]
