Yes. That is Tig braze.Did you try tig brazing? I would like to think that would stick fine(?). Or is that what SiBr is?

Do you think it might be the plating that’s making things difficult and not the metal itself? Maybe could try blasting it, glass bead or aluminum oxide, etc.Yes. That is Tig braze.
It’s more of a discoloration than a plating. Silver solder flux turns it bright silver instantly. Any grit sandpaper will shine it up also. And then heat turns it back yellowDo you think it might be the plating that’s making things difficult and not the metal itself? Maybe could try blasting it, glass bead or aluminum oxide, etc.
It helps to sand it off first. Filler won’t flow at all if coating isn’t removed.Do you think it might be the plating that’s making things difficult and not the metal itself? Maybe could try blasting it, glass bead or aluminum oxide, etc.
They yellow up. Seen it first handExpected these to be yellow. New 500i muffler covers straight from Stihl. I will find out if they are yellow after some heat

Way to make a software bug into a feature. Looks like it was modified on purpose. This is my 395 I picked up that took a hit and broke a piece of the case and dented the muffler so it was a good place for a deflector and I smooth ground the jagged edge on the case .
I have to find some touch up paint for it and possibly gonna weld the deflector on the muffler on the future.

Kinda the look I was going for ...turn something bad into good ..lolWay to make a software bug into a feature. Looks like it was modified on purpose.
Just be sure to match/bevel the entry from the exhaust port so it's not hitting a square edge sticking into the port and your gasket too.Quick 'n' dirty Dremel mods on a Hyway 066 muffler. I followed Stump Shot's advice on leaving the baffle walls and just topping it, way easier than drilling out all the welds.

That will be done when I get the 056 Mag II jug securely mated to the 066 case and I get the mounting adapter between this miffler and that jug figured out.Just be sure to match/bevel the entry from the exhaust port so it's not hitting a square edge sticking into the port and your gasket too.
That's the good stuff right there.Looks better with some paint. I haven't seen this high heat paint before so I thought I'd give it a try.
