That’s a stainless steel muffler… I typically use Riv-Nuts.Do I need to know anything else before I weld on a deflector?

Silver Solder Alloy Braze will work to , if you brazeThat’s a stainless steel muffler… I typically use Riv-Nuts.
that’s some nice welding manView attachment 396032View attachment 396033View attachment 396034View attachment 396035
TIG weld the very thin stainless, I use 309 filler and concentrate the heat on the deflector (or in this case the stainless pipe) as you carefully work the puddle into the base material of the muffler
I prefer brazing them too, I’ve had bad experiences with rivnuts. One snapped off inside a 592 muffler. Luckily it shot out and didn’t kill the brand new saw.Silver Solder Alloy Braze will work to , if you braze
That is one of the most ridiculous sh¡t things I've heard of, a full wrap handle negates your insurance policy?!I'm not going to bother trying to weld it.
I can very crudely weld with a MIG welder, and set fire to everything around me in the process. I don't know anything about TIG welding, or welding stainless in general. I will just buy a new muffler cover.
I only drilled this out in the first place because I had to put new muffler bolts in the bottom of the muffler, the old ones had rattled out. I had been wondering why my saw was louder lately haha.
I will keep the old cover to mess around with in the future.
Not much point using muffler mods here anyways since I would not be covered by my insurance if I had an accident while using a saw with any modifications at all, even a full wrap handle.

That's what we call over regulated.
And the people who DO use chainsaws here are not much better. You should see these clowns dressed head to toe in bright hi-viz clothing and fancy helmets making more work for themselves trying to cut big trees with little saws and puny bars. My instructor was always bragging about cutting 40 odd inch trees with a 16 inch bar on a 60cc saw. Gives out to me for using a 24 inch bar to cut 24 inch trees.clearly the regulators have never used a chainsaw for cutting down trees
We’ve seen vids of the guys making more work than needed. 20-30 minutes to flop over a 30” treeAnd the people who DO use chainsaws here are not much better. Power Ranger listening to Baby Shark on his headphones as he bores in 4-5 gills on each side. Were you dressed like a Power Ranger? Then yes. Close enough.
+1View attachment 396314well I dont mind if people want to be a power ranger.
These *f-wording morons just might break out the "massive, heavy, oversize" 24 inch bar for a tree that size.is this like me cutting a 65" oak tree with a 32" bar the same thing... lol
Head to *f-wording toe in bright hi viz. I have a high viz coat but it's mostly brown at this stage. Has been since two weeks after I got it.Were you dressed like a Power Ranger? Then yes. Close enough.
