Could prolly get some screws in. Maybe even hold it with the screen screw on the one side. But welding is easier for me.

Just a warning, I got an aftermarket muffler for my 550 to mod and didn't notice how close the tubes that the bolts go through was to my top cover , they ended up melting two holes in it.

There is room to use the screen bolt. If you want a second screw there is space on the side above the muffler bolt closest to the clutch.

So this was inside an Echo 330t muffler??!! I honestly don't know how they expected it to not burn up or choke.

Breathing engaged. No joke it probably picked up another 1000 rpms.

I did the muffler on mine,dang sure made for a better running saw.

Not show-off worthy, but I gutted a green-cap Husky 235 RII muffler and opened up the outlet a little more. The far-right hole in the first pic was the only outlet hole when I started. I fixed the outlet after the last pic so it doesn't look so wonky, fyi.

254 mufkin. Small deflector, had to fill in the old screw holes with weld.

266XP muffler. Large deflector, cut the “baffle tab” out of the outlet. Hole was already big enough. My 3rd time actually welding. Flux core mig makes things look messy but it gets the job done

Nice Austin. Sand it or grind it down a little and smooth out the lumps. I've had to do it in the past. Flap disks.
