Milspec 5.56 has a cult following that jacks up the price even in normal times. In 2019 my shop got in some crates of Lake City 62 grain 5.56 that was an overrun for another nation. They were priced at 699.00 for an 850 round crate and we had no problem selling them. We still get people asking if we are going to get more!

Stopped into my favorite shop today. Shelves were bare, as expected. Got to talking to the owner, and he has been keeping the high demand stuff out of sight reserved for good customers. He said every day he gets a stream of people he has never seen before who walk in, see the empty shelves, and then walk back out without saying anything. He said these are the sort who would never shop there during normal times, they only come in now because they are desperate.

When I picked up the Ruger today, the shop owner confirmed he has been keeping all the reloading stuff in the back for good customers. So I picked up some Hornady 55 grain soft points and small and large rifle primers at normal prices. Membership has its privileges!
