I second that! I like to go for self feed but also like to dog it in and put the pressure on.

I like my chains too self feed too. If they don't they dont self feed they over work the operator and the saw.

How does the Mtronics do that? Your ported 661 seemed like it was reving very high.

It's limited at 13k something and turns fast in the wood because there strong and hard to load with a 24" bar.
I don't have anything else to run thrm in so I use a big sprocket and as good a chain as I can make.
I tell everyone to never use a 7pin unless the bar is extremely long because the saw is just screaming.

To me if you want to pry on one and can then you need to work on your chain.
A good feeding chain can't be pried on much no matter what saw its on.
Put a new off the roll chain on though and you can pry your ass off if that's what you like.

The only saws I put 8 pin on are my 066s, my other saws are fast and I like the bar to have torque, so I go with 7 pin on them.

My best bet here is that his saw was not turning 13k in the cut. Bet it was around 11 by ears.

Anyone got a cellphone app for rpm?

It's hard to cut normally and check rpm yourself with a fast tach. At least for me, I tend to let up on the bar pressure a bit. If you have a mounted tach, taking a quick glance would be more accurate.

If Jeff has his 026 at the NY GTG there may be opportunity to run it on the original motorcycle brake dyno. I'm hoping to bring the dyno + electronics to the NY GTG for some show and tell or whatever. Really bummed I haven't had more time to play with it.

What about the CT GTG if I promise to feed ya?

Don't forget the Grolsch buddy, the Dyno would be nice also.

It's got a 3/8 chain that is fixed for a big saw on it and doing well with it.

It's got a 18" 3/8 lp on it now but dad likes it slowed down and still won't run it wfo hardly.
He's 73 though and loves that saw like no other.

I'm also curious what Shaun's new algorithm will do with the motorcycle dyno. I'm hoping to modify the software so the filter can be applied after because his new filter is tunable and you can just try different settings and recheck the graph without rerunning the saw. Could do it for both the new smart filter and the simpler decimation one. Cheers Al!

Recently I saw a cool tach holder that pushed onto the handle bar. It was on a fb group and I can't find a pic now. @mdavlee inquired about one, maybe he can post a pic. It looked promising. The only issue I saw was the fact that it would transmit all the saws vibes into the tach.

I'm still learning and testing what raker hight I like with my square file. And my filing still needs some work but I'm getting there. I have a couple chains that's way to aggressive and one that's sharp but is slow like it's dull. Here's a decent chain I was testing with a 8 pin. If you have to pry it seems your just putting pressure on the raker
